With this rule adjustment -

'The state of game weighting will be capped at a multiplier of two (instead of four), which means standing up in close games will still be rewarded but won't be as drastic as previous seasons.'

Anyone care to take a guess which player might be effected?

Fyfe loves a big last quarter but it's hard to pin point players

Belegur

yeah very hard to know without the stats.

Ricochet

Pendles has been a huge one in the past, along with Jelwood and Fyfe. But I don't think this change is enough to push you away from not picking players

Yeah true, im probably going to start with 2 of those. Is there anywhere to get this stat, or hit outs to advantage? CD obviously have them, are they in the prospectus? The best I could find was top 10 ranked players by %HTA

PICCOLLO

Cotchin, Fyfe and Selwood are the classic players who tend to get the 'bump' and step up with the game on the line.
A way you might be able to analyse who will be affected would be to look at teams that win games with close margins. Geelong spring to mind; Freo too because they lock things in and keep it tight.

I thought about doing something like this, but It's pretty hard to do any analysis without knowing exactly how their algorithm works. For example, In games that blow out early, dont they also give a weighting to plays that happen before junk time? I've got a pretty good feel for how it works but never read an exact description of how they do it. I certainly think this will be a positive rule change, their scoring system is very good but every now and then it seems to give an unfair reflection of performance

Wingard is flowered then. Can't do sfa for three quarters anymore :P

Also remember that this works both ways. So players won't be getting scaled down a flower tonne either. Personally don't think this will effect too many (relevant) players over the course of an entire season.

All they've done is make things less flowered in close games haha

ahha i know. I like to exaggerate things...   :P

Yeah its even harder to think of relevant players that lost points in clutch time. I can remember Hibberd got a a 69 against Melbourne when he'd been consistent all day but didnt touch it in the last 2 minutes.

Anybody know how long they've been using this system? Ive got a feeling thet've only been doing it for a few years? Not sure. If it only came in recently it would be interesting to look at the scores of the top players before the multipliers where introduced.

Belegur

Also who might be some players that just give consistent output? I'm thinking probably Priddis, Barlow, Ward. Maybe even Dangerfield last year, cant remember him icing too many games
