Depending on how you define a back keeper, I'm somewhere between 11-14 keepers at the mo.

Also remember each year there's a rookie who hits that range where you umm and ahh for all 23 rounds on whether he's a keepr or not, and you still have him at the end!

Blues Blues Blues

Shaw, Birchall, Hurn + Newnes/Waters
GAJ, Rocky, Pendles, JPK
Nicnat + Kruezer
Buddy, Bennell, Swan, Titchell + Belly

12 plus 4 potentials
(At this stage!!)

IMO keepers are:

Defenders who average 90+, maybe 85+ for D6.
Midfielders who average 110, maybe 105+ for M7, M8.
Rucks that average 100+
Forwards that average 95+, 90+ for F5, F6.

Hey Vinny just curious, are these averages last season average or over the players carreer. Based on last season averages I would end up with 6 keepers atmost. Players like Natanui and Maric for eg. don't make the cut.

Hey man, nah neither really. I mean anyone who averaged 90+ last season is definitely a keeper this season but guys like Naitanui and Maric are definitely keepers. They are proven, with years of good scoring. It's hard to explain really but keepers tend to be players with runs on the board that have proved they can score over a couple years at least. Then you got guys you pick with the intention of keeping like Newnes or Lumumba.

Lol all good, just really confused now !!!

Spent a hour or so going over the figures and thought "Gee Vinny is a hard task master" Lol.

Just for the record,      Maric average in 2014 was 99 for season and 78 for career
Naitanui ave  in 2014 was 90 for season and 89  for career.

Vinny

Haha, Maric and Naitanui are both definitely keepers.

Maric has had 3 95+ seasons and Naitanui 4+ 90 seasons. Average over their entire career is irrelevant, players get injured and not many start their career with premium numbers. :P

Only 4 in the guts Holz. Thought you would have had 5 at the very least and more likely 6.  ? :)

Yeah I hate it, I just can't see a way around it with the terrible back options. I still may drop whitecross to a rookie, titchell to a rookie and than at least bring in brad crouch into the mids .

I would never go 6 but 5 is what I like. I get 6 inside the first 8 rounds though.

Think I'll definitely bring my 5th in.

I can't seem to fit in 5 mids either.
Have Henderson at d6

I have said all along titchell(with the normal midfield role) and crouch are the 2 players that I think will Break out and I can't fit them in. I want crouch the most!
But for now I have decided to have Rockliff in a 4 man midfield and Gray in a 4 man forward line. A

I feel like starting 2 lads at 200-220k is essential as we will struggle to have playing rookies

So for me it is so hard to go from say a vandenberg to crouch for 380k without compromising the rest of the team.

Grufflez

it's going to be 12-14 keepers for everyone. if you have 15 TELL ME YOUR SECRETS!

RaisyDaisy

14 + Kreuzer who I am hoping can turn into a keeper

Woppa15

14 including Swan, Titchell and Newnes.

15 for me including Newnes and Titch as the ??

How many certainly depends on who they are. Guys with Ablett, Rocky, Gray fwd and Simpson, plus a few mid pricers will only have 12. If you have guys like Ward, Danger, Titchell and Newnes instead plus plenty of basement rooks, it will be 14, maybe even 15. A team with 15 keepers will be just as hard to finish if youre trying to get basement rookies to Ablett and Rocky, compared to a team that has more spots to fill but more midpriced stepping stones and can afford to bring in the cheaper premiums because they started with the expensive ones.

Of course there will be compromises involved to get more keepers. That said I've got Ablett, Selwood, Simpson, Goldstein and Gray currently in my team and still count 15 keepers (with Titch and Newnes). Will need one cheapo rook to play in defence though, otherwise Gray will become a cheaper fwd keeper for an upgrade at D6... Hopeful someone will show in the NAB
