So should push into the 22 now that he's injury free and assuming he addressed his fitness issues.
But where does he play? he's a ball magnet but how much mid time does he get in Sudneys midfield?

In the middle. Dont see him resting fwd all that much.

The guy is best 22, No doubt when fit. Guys like Lloyd, Heeney, BJack(maybe) will all make way for him if he is fit.
speaking of B.Jack, whats the word on him, best 22 now ?

The talk is he is training with the forward group. I would think that is where is going to spend most of his time, not sure if he is training to be a fwd tagger (since Smith owns that role) or a read the pack fwd, since McGlynn is spending more time in the mids. Or as a thought just popped into my head, the 'slingshot' receiver since both Rohan and Jetta are looking at time in defense?
Who tasks Jetta spot on the wing /over the back of the sling shot?? BJack has pace!!Towers?? Titch??

Surely not a lock in the 22 then if you only see him playing mid?
Parker, JPK, Jack, Hanners the certainties to spend the bulk on the ball, where does Mitchell fit in?

Teams tend to go in with more than 4 midfielders these days...

Teams rotate lots of players through the mids if he is fit can see him being a part of that and therefore one to think seriously about

I understand that but my point is that If he's expected to play baisically only midfield  but there isn't a spot for him to play mostly midfield with such a good team then he surely he can't be a lock?
Those are just the obvious 4 that will do the most of the work in there. The others that go in, like McVeigh can spend 50% of the game at half back of in other positions. As a pure mid does Mitchell have a spot? Would surely need to spend plenty of time forward if he's going to get games

The_Captain

Most team run at least 6 through there.... With change overs between half forwards/ pockets and bench. The speed of the game these days means mids gotta be fresh as at all times.

sammy123

Will float around fwd line

I dont think any player nowadays plays only in the mid field. most will float forward or back to have a rest

quinny88

I know teams rotate a lot through the middle people haha.
I was responding to Sydneyrox who sees him  playing in the middle and not much up forward.

I don't however see a certain spot for another full time mid.
A mid that can spend 50% of the game forward? Yes.
A mid like JPK that spends most of the game on the ball? No.

don't see him being a lock in the 22 if that's to be his role.

From a SC perspective, if he does play plenty forward can he still push the 100 mark we would want to be worth considering?

It wioll depenmd on what Bird, Parker and McGlynn do this year.

McGlynn went into the mids as no one went with him and it shocked most teams. Dont see McGlynn playing alot of mid time this year. Titch was playing in the mids when Parker was playing mostly fwd. Need to see who out of Parker and Titch plays mainly fwd and mainly mid or 50/50

Yeah that's my concern for Mitchell's scoring potential because Parker really stamped himself as a gun mid last year and I imagine he will only increase his time in there. He is the best of the bunch that can play as a high half forward though so hopefully from a SC perspective he plays more forward and allows Mitchell extra time in the midfield

If the tag goes to Parker then he will miove up front, like KJack did last year. Then others like KJAck, Titch will go in to the mids

All of these scenarios we won't know until a few games in  :'(

I want Parker but Tmitch scares me off
