Little update after tonight's game!
Pearce I am watching very closely but don't want to go of one nab game!
Salem looked a bit lost but keeping him for now as he is easily downgradable!
I know my defence is weak! (For now it is staying as is)

Thank you to everyone for there thoughts!
Keep em coming 8)

Hey MS

My main concern with your team is the weak backline but you've acknowledged that and have a strong midfield so I'll accept that's the way you're going - still think it's dodgy though!

My other concern is just with some of the rookies, eg Anderson, Hiscox, Richards, Schade - just think their JS is very very shaky, can they crack into the best 22 for their teams, not be vested and play consecutive games? I think they're all dicey. I just wonder if maybe you should prepare for forking out more for your rookies, with only 7k left there's not a lot of budget to play with...

Prem choices are all nice, particularly the strong midfield you've got. Hibberd is a worry for obvious reasons but play that by ear. Otherwise a very strong team, if all your rookies get up you've got a great side.

Mark

After last nights game id downgrade Salem to Clark.

Don't really think any of the 2 will av more than 60 but the extra $$ you could save is important

Yeah I really think Anderson will break into the hawks side but not certain on the others!
Obviously will change if they aren't up by round 1.

Salem is still one of my favourites purely because he will get points if he is playing of half back which he has been doing this pre season.
If he spuds it up again next week I will do exactly what you've proposed!

Although it has taking me longer than others I have finally given into the fact that the defencive rookies are very very very slim and have went with (although I hate saying it) a mid price strategy in the back line. This has allowed me to get Newton in for Freeman.

I am a lot more confident in my team now and believe both Macmillan and Pearce could become keepers with a 80-85 avg.

keep your thoughts coming.

Bully

Backline looks much better, hopefully Saad gets promoted because he looks good for a 65-70 average, good enough for D6.

Midfield looks super strong too, I like the Cripps pick, could be a nice POD.

Rucks are perfect.

The forwards look a tad bit thin, not sold on Salem at F4, think you would be better downgrading Newton and upgrading to Belly if possible (might require a rookie rejig), other than that a very strong team.

Yeah I have always liked Salem and he has been in and out of my team from the start and for now I am happy with him in.
I have not touched Belly at all and I don't intend too, maybe Martin instead but Salem v Martin is pretty hard to choose in my books and Salem is 100k cheaper.

Another worth considering pending fitness is Chris Knights, he looked back to his best a couple of weeks ago and is very capable of an 80 average. The big risk is injury but then again you would only need him to last 7-8 weeks. definitely one to put on the watchlist.

For now Salem is my man 8)

TEAM NAME: The SuperCoach's Team.
DEF: K. Simpson, H. Shaw, M. Hibberd, J. Newnes, Z. Jones, N. Brown (H. Goddard, A. Saad)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, S. Pendlebury, N. Fyfe, J. Selwood, C. Ward, J. Anderson, I. Heeney, B. Boekhurst (A. Vandenberg N. Freeman, K. Lambert)
RUC: T. Goldstein, N. Naitanui (M. Cox)
FWD: L. Franklin, D. Martin, D. Swan, C. Salem, M. Clark, P. Karenizis, (J. Hogan, T. Lamb)
CASH LEFT: $1,500

Defence: First four are all premiums in my eyes and will go around 90-95 in my opinion. Zac Jones I am not sure on but if he gets named round 1 he is in my team (Sydney supporters what are your thoughts?) Brown is a spud at SC but then again he will play and at this stage im not sure if anyone else will. Goddard looks good and is the best bet at getting games in my opinion alongside with Saad who is a lock if upgraded.
*I'm considering Lumumba but still not sold on him playing that midfield role when it comes to the real thing. Also Smith is in and out of my team a fair bit also. Out of Jones/Whitex for D5 (Who ever is named out of the two)

Midfield: Again first 4 are obvious picks. Ward for my pod out of the premiums. Decided that going cheaper with the mid premiums is okay with me already having 5 premiums. Anderson is a gun and I believe hawks will try and get him in there side as he is a future star of the club whereas someone like Simpkin isn't. Heeney is the best player out of the draft and again Sydney will want to get games into him although he does look like a sub chance. As a Carlton supporter I love Boekhurst but im not sure if he is AFL ready as he looks a bit to skinny for my liking. Vandenberg copped a hit to the head yesterday and was subbed out but he is a gun player and if promoted you have got to lock him in. Freeman has already had a year in the system and he is a lock. Lambert is a lock also.
*Considering Ward to Gray and then turn him into a forward later in the season? thoughts?

Rucks: Set and Forget, enough said.

Forward line: Franklin is a gun but also a rollercoaster ride and I believe you have to get on him from the start. Martin will go 115+ this year mark my words. Swan will go back to his premium mid status also. Salem was going to be somewhat of a pod for me but not so much anymore :'( and Clark showed why you have to select him. Karneziz I will be watching very closely today and Hogan has to be a lock with Lamb looking like getting games early.
*Really wish I could get both Gray and Bartel in but think Martin and Swan will out score them both and I want Franklin from the start so they had to miss out.

Really like my premium picks and rookies are looking better and better in my opinion.
Bye structure is 5/15/10 but during round 11 I will upgrade my round 12 rookies into round 11 premiums which will make it manageable and I don't like building my team based on byes.

Thankyou to everyone who always rates/gives advice on my team.
I will return the favour.
cheers guys!

Hey MS. Loving every pick. You have showed me that by going pearce > Whitecross that i'll only lose maybe 5 points in ave but whitey has better JS and it also enables me to get stronger rookies that would have outscored the ones i had and make alot more money a lot quicker. Great Team. I am thinking that u should perhaps go goldy > Maric/Minson and then try and get Gray in.

Like that idea alot. Think about it this way. Gray is a must have by season end. You currently have 3 keepers and 3 rookies so even if u upgrade a rookie to him it wont be in the first 7-8 weeks or u will have to paint the fence with another premo. Chances are Franklin will drop to 450ish and will be an easy upgrade as Salem will definitely make u alot.

Salem has highly priced for a rookie. He has had one good preseason game albeit against Bulldogs so you can't be be jumping the gun just yet.  I think he will chuck in a few poor scores against good opposition. Considering he has Swans, Hawks, Freo, Port, Geelong, Suns who will all be looking for top four spots I can see him chucking in a few sub 50 scores
