I think for those chasing overall a 5 premo midfield makes alot of sense to get those points churning early, so I can't fault your team MS! Having an extra mid super premium will probably cover the points lost by having to start the likes of N.Brown in the backs
Exactly! But in saying that im worried about 4 150k players getting up in the defence in the first place hahaha

Yeah that is the risk. I think those like myself that place a higher focus on winning leagues with cash in them would be better served having an extra mid rookie that will actually make money as opposed to picking an extra back rookie that could be dropped by round 3

Yeah exactly it's risk/reward if everything goes well I could be a nice 15 points up on everyone each week which will see my climb each week but I could have to burn 3 or 4 trades to try and get everything good if not!

I like your team mate, and am a strong believer in the 5 prem mid especially if going for ranking. I'm also on the D8 loophole ;). Bit of bias from me because we have similar teams. Only real difference in structure is I have lue in the ruck and with the extra cash have an extra mid pricer in the backline. But I'm also trying to spend low in defense so am watching those defense rookies closely. I do share the same concerns of them not only needing to be named R1 but also stringing games together. Lots of decent rookies up forward, so this year happy to start thin and try grab the grays/Franklin/deledios as upgrades. Good premium n rookie choices mate.

Just a quick little update before tonights game.
Karenizis is in for Clark as Clark just seemed out of the game for pretty much the whole night.
Cripps in for NVB As a Carlton fan I love Cripps and think he will play 20+ games.
Anderson in for Boekhurst. Boekhurst just didn't seem ready where as Anderson did.
Really think both of Schade and Richards can earn a spot in theres sides at some stage during the year.
Good to see that Goddard was named :)
Not sure on Laverde as he wasn't named but I believe he was one of the most talented in the draft so he stays... for now :P

Thanks for everyones thoughts would be great If you could keep them coming.

I like it
I agree with your Boekhurst/Anderson comment but Boekhurst is trying to get into a struggling team where Anderson is trying to get into an extremely strong all round team.

That is true!
I have went with the more expensive out of the two for that exact reason :)
cheers!

I think you can afford to drop a mid premo to sure up your backs dude, Brown and Goddard as D5 and D6 is a recipe for disaster, you'd probably want those two on your bench at worst, if at all.

Yeah I can completely see where you are coming from and I will probably end up doing that but for now I want my 5 mid premiums although I have a 'back up' team in place if necessary cheers!

How about Hibberd to Geary, Brown to Ibbotson, both those guys should average 80+.

Doubt either will be keepers though :'(

I wouldn't rule out 1 of those doing enough to hold down a place for most of the season. Geary hasn't been discussed much but he is in the leadership group and has a very solid history of decent scoring. He has been used as a tagger in the past but all reports coming out of St Kilda is that he'll been given a bit more free reign this year. His ceiling is also significant with a number of 120+ games against quality opposition. Ibbo is also capable of nudging 90 if given license to roam.

The upshot is this, for the sake of one keeper (also bear in mind Essendon sanctions) you effectively make up 20 points a week (80 + 80) vs (90 + 50). In a best case scenario at least 1 of these players goes onto average 90 and nothing is lost, you also generate an extra 150k which will no doubt be invaluable.

I like the fact you are committed to a 5 premo midfiled but that may entail a bit of creative accounting down back, this year seems the perfect time to use such a tactic.

Nice team mate,

Only thing is after tonight im dumping and I think you should also...Salem..Didn't do much (so far) and looks lost

Hawker_08

#118
Clancee Pearce looking great. I think to sure up your defence you should get him in at D5. He averaged 91 2 years ago including a 15 and a 36 and played 22 games. Racked up 118 pts. Salem is lost and i think you should get another rookie in for him for a cash grap. Otherwise great team.

Little update after tonight's game!
Pearce I am watching very closely but don't want to go of one nab game!
Salem looked a bit lost but keeping him for now as he is easily downgradable!
I know my defence is weak! (For now it is staying as is)

Thank you to everyone for there thoughts!
Keep em coming 8)
