Hey guys, second year of SC this year after finishing 1167 last year. Relatively happy with this team at the moment but would love some thoughts!

$16,500 Remaining.

Bye Structure - 9 - 13 - 8

Nice team.
DEFS: Very solid, some nice picks there.
MIDS: Nice picks again, Fyfe and Watson are rippers. Although, I feel you need a mid range player to fill M5.
Rucks: Change Goldstein or Nic nat. Both have the same byes which will really leave you screwed when the byes come around. You can change now or later, really up to you.
FWDS: I'd take Walker out. It's not worth getting any players who just play forward unless they start dirt cheap.
Overall, it's a fairly nice team. Keep it up

TomK

Cheers mate. Didn't even think about the byes in rucks so thanks for that.

Made a few changes which are:

Tex - Bellchambers
Goldy - Leuenberger
Pendles - Sloane
Biggs - Ward

That is a very good team, the first one published.  I would NOT leave out pendles, goldy and tex because of the byes.  My best ever year was top 100 for most of the year, high of 7 late in the year and it was a year when I totally diregarded bye structure.  Now the byes are even easier, we dont even need 22 playing.

I would keep the first team.  You chose those players for a reason.  Why drop a player because of one round, there are 23 rounds to play.

This bye structure thing still baffles me.  Its a very good original team that you picked.  Stick with your initial gut feeling and Play your best 22 on field, and list best 30 players, and the results will take care of themeselves for the entire 23 weeks.

Cheers for your thoughts mate, greatly appreciate it :)

Went back to original team and I see 14 potential keepers compared to 13 in second team so could save me a trade as well.

No worries at all Tom.  Good decision, sticking with your original team.  It's a good team, you will have a very good year.

Updated Team:

$4,100 Remaining.

Quite a few changes to my last posted team. Defence, Midfield and Forward line all look stronger but had to downgrade Goldy but very happy with current team.

Notes:
- Pretty keen on Henderson now after his press conference saying he had been training down back all pre-season and has had a full pre-season. Since he is going to be playing back, he will be rebounding out of defence (moving Smith up the field) which he averaged 105 at the end of 2013 when he was fully fit.
- Rookies are basically all placeholders at the moment, especially defensive ones.
- Locking in Salem at F5 now after the reports of the internal trial.

nperera95

def: Solid defence. The the Henderson pick. Most would have Yeo or Seedsman at D5. Don't think Whitecross is in hawks best 22 but we will have to wait and see.
mid: 4 strong premos. Rocky is an upgrade option for me. Heeney is injured and is unlikely to feature early on.
ruck: Solid ruck
fwd: We have the same forward line!

Great team :)

Ringo

Nice team to sit on for NAB cup. Couple of comments.

Even though a Brissy supporter I would rate Rocky as an upgrade option as I can see his average falling to 115/120 which equates to a drop of $80/90k.  Will probably still be in Top 10 but just not to start with due to price.

think Bellchambers at R2 a little risky but a risk that may pay off.

TomK

Cheers guys, appreciate it.  :)

I've gone Henderson over Yeo/Seedsman due to price/no guarantee Seedsman is in best 22 unlike Henderson, Yeo only scored well as a midfielder and there is no guarantee he will play there unlike Henderson who has a defined role. Don't think WhiteX is beat 22 either but he is good as a placeholder for now.
I understand  that Rocky is more of an upgrade target but I like him cause of  his bye.  I could potentailly  downgrade him and then upgrade Heeney to Biggs.
Belly at R2 is a risk but it's one I'm willing to take.

Thanks again fellas

Money Shot

I would do something like
Rocky to Fyfe and then Heeney to Biggs
would look a lot better imo.

Updated team:

$67,400 Remaining.

Jumped on the Robbie Gray bandwagon 8)

Taking advantage of all the fwd rookies seems the way to go, comfortable with having only 3 premos there. Allows me strengthen my Ruck and mid rookies as well.

barlowlove

DEF: I like the structure of 4 keepers and 2 mid pricers under $300k as those ones are more likely to generate cash, but I'm not sure if Macmillan and Jaksch will do that for you (would need to avg 75+ to make some coin, do you think they can hold their spot let alone do that?)

MID: Nice and standard, like the expensive rookie picks. Crouch is obviously one that you like so I can't really fault you there

RUCKS: Very solid, not much to say if NicNat is fit

FWDS: Alot of people are saying Gray is overpriced, I tend to agree and won't start with him, but don't see a problem with starting with him either, he's a gun and will be a Top 5 fwd for sure

Gigantor

Backs, Rucks and Forwards I cant fault, very similar to mine.
Crouch is a bit risky at M4 imo, I would downgrade one of your 200k rooks and upgrade him to a super premo

sammy123

Tom good team can't fault it mate.

Like all your selections. Crouch at m4 is fine should average up around 105-110

Fwd line is good with a few rookies to choose from we can have 3 prems only.
