Hey guys, just spamming my newest charity thing. If this stuff doesn't interest you, that's cool, just move on along :)

Obesity is strongly linked to chronic health problems, such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. It has strong scientific links with many different types of cancer, including, but not limited to, cancers of the oesophagus, pancreas, colorectum, breast (post-menopause), uterus, kidney, thyroid, and gallbladder. [1,2]

Meanwhile, there are strong links with the obesity epidemic and our obsession with sugary drinks. Nearly half the children in Australia drink sugary drinks daily, and we are in the top 10 countries for soft drink consumption per person. [3,4]

For the month of February, I will do my bit by giving up ALL sugary drinks (soft drink, energy drinks, fruit juice, added sugar in tea/coffee, flavoured milk, etc.). My regular routine would probably consist of a glass of juice every morning, and a soft drink with dinner approximately every second day. I also regularly have sugar in my tea (when black) and enjoy Frozen Cokes/Slurpees when the weather is hot. I don’t foresee this being a fiendishly difficult challenge (although I’ve been wrong before) but this is for awareness as much as fundraising.

What can you do?

Firstly, I am still raising funds for Cancer Council Victoria, so any and all donations would be amazing. Please follow the link to donate or just find me in person: http://vic.cancercouncilfundraising.org.au/WilliamHuggett Additionally, you can be health conscious too by joining me in giving up sugary drinks. Let me know if you’re going to take part.

Thank guys!

LaHug

We're only $973.28 away from my goal (yay) but I feel like people aren't super into this whole "no sugary drinks" thing. So, like the typically insane person I am, I'm upping the ante.

I'm currently at $4026.72. For each increment below, I will give up something else for the rest of the month.

$4250 - goodbye coffee (work people will know how serious this is)

$4500 - tea can go too (oh no, my caffeinated backup!)

$4750 - alcohol (no... not again... beer is my best friend)

$5000 - milk (this is seemingly not an issue until you consider I have cereal EVERY SINGLE DAY)

The sooner I reach these amounts, the longer I give stuff up. Let's do this!

All aboard the Toast Train buddy...i personally recommend marmalade or cream cheese spread and berry flavour oats with water instead of milk goes alright.
