How cheap do people expect him to get? He'll have to drop his average by 15 ppg to get to the same price as Ablett (675k, and who a lot of people seem to be starting no questions asked). Personally, I can't see his average getting that low, so it will be an absolute pain to bring him in, especially with how expensive rookies are which makes cash generation a lot more difficult.

I'm personally thinking he'll 'bottom out' at around 650k
But it's not the standalone decision, it's team structure

Consider this: Rocky C + Adams vs Barlow C + Swan/DSmith (roughly the same prices)
I'd back the 2nd option in (slightly), which means that Rocky's not picked

like we say though, the difference between top 10 or top 3000 could be based on that call (and the ruck selections)

If you honestly think that Rocky will drop his avg by 20ppg, then yeah, definitely go with the 2nd option. I just can't see that happening though. For me, in that example, it'd be like: 125x2 + 80 vs 110x2 + 100, which gives 330 vs 320, and someone like Barlow provides a much easier upgrade option than Rocky :P

He's been named captain so I'm won over. I doubt he'll perform poorly with the added responsibilities he now holds. The only players who drop in form after being named captain are those who lack initiative (why Adelaide have dodged a bullet with Sloane &/or Dangerfield). Rocky is 100% committed to the Lions, at their best, or their worst.

Can definitely see him score similar now. If you are going to hold off and wait on any Brisbane midfielders, hold off on Hanley, Beams, & Redden. Not Rocky

Thought I would give this a bump. He's now played his 2 NAB games (66 from 82% and 97 from 77%) and played very solidly. How do people now stand a few weeks out from Round 1?

not been out of my team all preseason

He's done enough i reckon hasn't tackled much or been as intense at the footy but it's NAB he want's to be fit round one.
If you can afford to start him he won't let you down will still score big points. He could drop some cash but do you care enough about that.

better off saving $200k and starting with Toby Greene as your captain option. 120 + ave coming up for him. you heard it here first. pick up the rock when he drops $50-$75K

in af where it is much more about horse trading, picking a guy who is almost guaranteed to lose value early on and is no guarantee to outscore the next 5 good options, I am off.

The_Captain

Cant separate any  more than this! I have had him in and out..... Just cant justify spending that much at this stage!
