look if you are contemplating playing oxley ahead of this guy next week, i dont see the point in having 400K sitting on your bench, but i might just hold him for 1 more week and see if byrne and whitex look like worth downgrading.

Using rolling donut to pluck the good scores between KMac and Oxley looks the go to me.
Have been contemplating this also.

Cool, so it wasn't just me ;)

Frustrating for sure.. but geez he can find the pill.. just needs to tidy up his disposal big time..

He lacks awareness and composure, you can't teach that. Guys like this will struggle their whole career, he's good for an 80 average but that's about it.
completely disagree. He's been thrown higher up the ground where the footy isn't always in front of him. composure in traffic will come with more time in that role. before this year he was rated as an elite kick,  you dont lose that completely over night. He'll be fine

Who rated him an elite kick? Never heard this before. Kicking straight into the man on the mark (twice) and kicking straight to a forward 20 metres out is far from elite, but it's also his tendency to get the ball and kick blindly without summing up the situation. Mitch Robertson is of this ilk and he failed to bust out of the 80's as far as supercoach is concerned. The best case scenario for Newnes is that he averages 85, still not good enough to be a keeper. If Brodie Smith doesn't play and remains on 500k people would be mad not to trade him in, Newnes is all hype no substance.
Really never heard it? Its one of his biggest attributes. It was a wet game and they got destroyed. 85 from him is a keeper this year and people should hold

I've watched him fairly closely over last year or so (I have him in a keeper league) and believe it or not his kicking is actually very good. I think what's happening since he's moved permanently to the midfield is he's running himself into the ground. It's why he gets so much of the ball but also why he's buggered when he gets it. Imo he will only get better with experience as he learns to manage his running patterns better.

Is it too early to trade this guy? Hasn't tonned up from 3 matches now I'm thinking a slight upgrade to a premium is in order

No way he'll average under 80, 85 is a good enough D6 (and we all knew this when selecting him), and he's still certainly capable of averaging 90.

Don't understand the fuss, seriously, he's a good kick, he just had a (not even that) bad game or 2 to start the year. It's like people jumping off Dusty after his 50 first up.

My boy Hibbs is a good comparison, led the team for effective kicks last year, doesn't mean even he doesn't have low DE games here and there. Also doesn't mean he suddenly forgot how to kick a footy.

Newnes averaged 80 last year, I think most people want 95+, I doubt Newnes can achieve that. I would be all over Smith like a rash if I had 100k up my sleeve.

Lets hope Hibbo pulls out a few 120s....for both our sakes.

Newnes to Smith, Goodes to Hamling (I think he will be named with Morris out)

Any St.K supporters wanna weigh in on future improvement?

Looking at those raw numbers, if he hits the 65% mark he should average a ton you would think. That is good enough for me and you would have to think it is possible. The fact he went at 92% week one shows he should be to improve his efficiency to that 65% range.

Slashers

He shouldn't be a major concern at this stage.
