I picked Newnes based on the hype and his price, I hope he shows what everyone was expecting to see this week, otherwise I think many will jump off next week.

Watched a replay of the game yesterday and focused only on him, wanted to see how he played since I got sucked in with the hype and was lazy with doing my homework. Here's my observations -

Elite kicking skills, at least in this game. Looked very comfortable with the ball in his hands. Decision making also looked good.
5 frees and a 50 meters against, all for the same thing, reaching the contest slightly late and over zealously applying physical pressure. Not too worried about this, should be able to fix it and even possibly turn these negatives into point generation.

2nd 1/4 didn't even see him enter the frame for 15 minutes. Not sure if he spent some time on the pine, but finally spotted and looked as though he was playing on the wing. Ended up working into the quarter fairly well, perhaps just a lack of ball out there initially.  Running patterns seemed very strange, kept floating in and out of the vision looking lost. Not sure if he was trying to find his man or loose him. Multiple times standing 15 meters on his own but in a position where he'd never influence the play. Not much accountability (might be a good thing for getting off the leash). Pretty similar in the 3rd. Didnt see him much in the last, think the play just didnt really come near him.

First efforts were really good, second efforts were basically non existent. Actually turned his back on the play a few times when he was able to impact a stoppage. Didn't see him at any center bounces. Got back to help often and snuck forward a few times. Had one shot at goal, wasn't a bad kick but just missed.

Def keeping and having another look at him this week. Has potential, especially if he does get a go in the guts. If he spuds it'll be awkward doing anything at his price so fingers crossed.
