The only downside I can see, and I'm with Ringo and the all the others in against trading him, but he seems to be playing a high half forward/wing role instead of an inside mid/loose defender role which is what we all though he would play, and hence playing that role could hampen his scores.

He's definitely playing a slightly different role to what we expected I feel. I don't think he attended a centre bounce at all.

The other thing that would have bumped his score up slightly was the number of contested possessions - 9 out of his 14. Not sure if he'll do that every week.

Wait and see how he goes against the Suns.

I think it's a bit early to ship him off, but if he duds it up again this week I'm probably going to sideways trade to Docherty assuming the rest of my players perform adequetely.

Calm down guys, he had to play in defence on the weekend because the saints were missing Nathan Wright (available this week) and Jimmy Webster ( 2 weeks away). Once these two return he'll play a midfield role.

I'll give him this week to atone, but if he spuds it again he's gone.  Don't want to keep hearing excuses.

I don't think he was playing defence? I watched the whole game and he lined up on the wing and floated around all over the ground.

Did you guys watch the game? Did he play in defence or are you just guessing?

He only attended 4 centre bounces throughout the entire NAB challenge yet posted scores of 104, 82 ,102 (96 ave.).

I don't know how to link images here but if your interested in seeing where Newnes picked up his possessions one of the Saints supports over on BigFooty posted his heat map. 4 Clearances suggests he's playing more inside then what some of the people here think.

LF

Totally forgot I have AFL live so I am able to see the heat maps

That flank/ wing is Jimmy Webster's when fully fit, i'm pretty confident Newnes will play more time in the middle when he returns!

Not if you managed to get your AFL pass for free :)

DoctorRush

Reckon Montagna out means more centre bounces for Newnes!!
I hope everyone jumps off him and then rues the decision!
