Agree Newnes is a hold/wait and see at the moment, honestly wouldnt be happy with a yearly average of less than 90, 90-95 would be money well spent, he is the type of pick you upgrade at the end if you have all over bases covered.

Was close to rage trading him but I ended up on the same train of thought as you. Even if he doesn't perform as expected he should hold his price at around the 400k mark. Later on you can turn him into one of the other premos that will inevitably drop to sub 450k.

Leaning towards turning Newnes into Bontempelli this week.

I just can't see Newnes averaging 90 from here while I think the Bont will average anywhere from 95 - 105 for the rest of the season.

I too would prefer The Bont over The Hype, but who covers D245 in the meantime?

My defence would be: Smith, Gibson, Hibberd, Lumumba, Saad, Oxley (McIntosh, Adamson)

Pretty nice for round 4.

The Bont is a must this week if you want him.

One hype is averaging 134 and the other 77, I know which hype I'd prefer.

Maybe this is stepping off of one hype train and getting straight on another, The Bont is a second year kid and has scored well in the Doggies 2 wins...how many wins are the dogs going to get? and what would the Bont have scored if he'd played vs Hawthorn? i think an 85 average is more realistic from here on out, hope for 90-95.

YoungGun

I think putting Bontempelli and Newnes in the same "hype" category is absolutely foolish. One has potential to be fantasy relevant  (newnes) and one has the potential to be an out an out star whilst also being great for fantasy (the Bont). Looking at statistics and his weight gain over the preseason I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bont go 100+ this season.

In saying all this, I have Newnes and don't think it's panic stations. He is doing almost what I bought him to do and hopefully he'll come good

Far too many are concerned with a 3 game average. Kade Simpson started last year with an average of 84, averaged 95 for the year.
Malceski averaged 88 over the first 3 games, averaged 105 for the year. Its such a small sample size. You picked Newnes as a keeper, give him a chance. He doesn't have to average 90+ to be a keeper this year

If we lower the bar too much then Saad, McIntosh & Oxley can be considered keepers, better to use the cash an upgrade to a player with proven premo status or someone like Bont who looks to have a bigger ceiling.

and if your too reactive you'll use all your trades

This is true, a trade cannot be underestimated, however I feel that the defence is generally holding up well enough to afford offloading Newnes. I'm happy enough to allow Saad, Oxley & McIntosh to hold fort for the time being, I think all those guys will be my final upgrades (if at all). I think their output is such that it won't take two trades to switch them into keepers, at most I predict one rookie cull will provide enough cash to move them all into the top tier.

Cant really compare Newnes to Simpson and Eski who have proven years of premo

Newnes is not a premo - he is just a touted break out - nothing more

Showing the inconsistencies of a proven premo just backed what I was saying. Its been 3 games.... We picked Newnes as a keeper, give him a chance
