It was way over the top anyway.
The main thing that irritated me was having a player on a good score and then because someone kicked the winning goal there points would take a hit

Amen to that, same thing powered me off aswell mate. Im glad they are cleaning this up a bit.

Will this change anything in relation to team planning? Happy it tidies up the ridiculous scoring at the end of matches but I cannot see a major change to the scoring TBH.

I don't think it'll make much difference to anything.

Selwood for example scored 78 DT vs 122 SC when he kicked the winning goal against the Blues. Probably got 40 points for it, now he'll get 20. That's a loss of about 1 ppg, bringing his average to 119 instead of 120. Hardly worthy of putting a line through his name over that.

I'm glad they have come to their senses and are making a change to this too. God knows how many times this cost me

I'll be curious to see how it impacts rucks, if at all, because close contests usually results in plenty of stopages and I've seen rucks scores go all over the place during the live scores

Overall this is a great change. Players who dominate for 3 quarters but don't do anything in the last 3 mins of a close match shouldn't have their scores wiped so low, while players who get a touch have their scores go through the roof

I don't mid the winning goal kicker getting a good 20-30 point boost, but so many times I saw players get massive points just for simple things - literally just getting a possession got them heaps of points

I remember getting worried at the sight of one chad wingard on 81 at 3qtr as he was on my opponents team. It was a close contest, and as he only had a few touches in the last, he lost a whopping 16 points, ending the game on 65.

This should be eliminated.

If he was on 81 and didnt register a stat, he should stay on 81

That's ok if it's only the one game for a individual player, but what if it's 4 or 5

BTW, must admit, I don't like when some-one gets ridiculous points for a clutch goal, when another player that's kept his team in the game for three and a half quarters, gets punished for a quiet last 15 minutes

Bloody oath it will.

Players with high standard deviations will need more evaluation.

fasttrack13

it won't affect many if anyone. Players only change games significantly 4/5 times at most during a season. I'd say most of the top players will all have reduced output but it will be a fairly even drop over each player. Ablett, Danger, Selwood, Fyfe, Buddy few others probably would be seperated by a couple more points to the rest of those top guys.

Will this increase the averages of premium players?
Given there is a set number of points given for each game, if less points go to weighting then the points need to go somewhere.

just means the points wont be taken from people who dont get stats during the end of a close game. all averages should go up by a tiny amount, but players who win matches will slightl loose points, say 1ppg.

Shouldnt do much

The players who get scaled down won't lose as many points.
