"In 2015, the state of game weighting will be capped at a multiplier of two (previously four), which means that standing up in close games will still be rewarded but wont be as drastic as previous seasons." - AFL Prospectus 2015

Which players will this affect most?
Fyfe comes to mind, he seemed to chuck his team on his back and will them home, Rocky the same (although he gets massive amounts of the pill as well).
Lots of big forwards will lose those 'monster' games which boost their averages as well, meaning even more value for the mid-fwd players/

We've all seen those players who do 3/4 of flower all before smashing out a 100+ score based on 10 minutes of brilliance in the 4th quarter - Think Wingard 2013.

So which players will suffer do you think?

justaverage

Boak, Buddy, and any solo ruckman

Nic Nat and Wingard will be hurt the most.

Mostly just the overrated players who just have occasional big moments, sometimes at the end of games.

Key forwards maybe as well. I can't see it hurting Rocky, he's more of an all game player  ;)

But the player this will impact the most is:

Sub

Money Shot

Selwood for me he always seems to be pretty clutch.
Don't really think it will make that much of a difference will it?

It will take a bit of that lottery feel out of the final scores. I don't like the idea tbh.

Why are we trying to change a scoring system that isnt broken?

I really love this rule change. It was very annoying when a player had a great all round game to set up the win for his team, then just had an average last quarter, and ended up with an average overall score. Vise versa for those who had poor games.

In terms of selecting players, I don't think you can pick or not pick anyone based on this.

Eg. In a few games, Wingard dropped off in a close second half and therefore his score fell. This season it won't fall as much. Overall I wouldn't be sure weighting had a positive effect on Wingard.

Don't forget that weighting also applies to the first/second quarter in a blowout game. So the players we associate with weighting (eg. Wingard, NicNat), may not actually have been positively affected.

We would have to have exact stats as to whether players scored during scaling. Who knows whether players will do the same thing this year anyway.

I'm pretty happy that this is the case.

Dangerfield comes to mind, second thoughts on starting him!

meow meow

Burgoyne. Bartel. Bontempelli. Boak. Buddy. Boss. Bobby Gray.

Pretty sure Pendlebury is the best at getting his team over the line when the chips are down.

It was way over the top anyway.
The main thing that irritated me was having a player on a good score and then because someone kicked the winning goal there points would take a hit

I fail to see how this could possibly be bad for Rocky, seeing as in the few games that Brisbane did win, the match-winners were usually Hanley and Zorko. As nrich said, he was good for most of each game, so his score should remain the same.
