Is it worth going Lamb-> Bonts? We all thought Lamb would have great JS and a good role with Darling out for 6-8 weeks, but he got the Green Vest, played well once he came on, and got dropped. Stiff Imo, which to me means his JS is pretty average.

I've just gone over some figures with the Bont and something is concerning me with his next few opponents

vs Haw (59)
vs Adel (DNP)
vs Sydney (42)
vs St Kilda (85)
vs Freo (63)

Interestingly, both West Coast & Richmond have never actually played against Bonts so probably gave him too much latitude. The above scores were also wedged in the middle of some hot form where he scored quite a few tons and 90+ scores. This has me concerned.

He's put 8kg on and has another preseason under his belt. He's played these teams once. You're suggesting that all of the above teams are bogey teams for him? Come on mate...

I'm not suggesting they are bogey teams but I am suggesting there will be a drop off in points, the Doggies could lose 4 out of 5 and I don't expect Bont to be given anywhere near the same latitude as the first two rounds.

You're stating the bleeding obvious of course hes not going to average 135 for the season. And if you're going off that theory why not just fill your team full of freo/sydney/hawthorn players. Of course we're gonna have a heap of losses this year. Didn't stop Libba averaging 180 or whatever it was he averaged last year 8) Point is Bont gets his points from his pressure, tackling and high % DE, which you will get wether or not you win or lose games. He doesnt need 35-40 to tonne up like your Boyd, Mitchell, Swan, JPK, Parker need. He is pure class of the Fyfe/Pendlebury breed.

I'm glad you mentioned Libba because his form dropped off when Griffen wasn't in the side, this is my point, he will get more attention now that he's strung together two very impressive performances. I still haven't ruled him out but I see him as a boom bust type when it comes to trading out your most expensive asset. This will be one of the most important decisions coaches make this year and it shouldn't be taken lightly.

He is going to have Will Langford hanging all over him this weekend - nothing surer.

Agreed. Bonts is the best mid at the dogs and surely will cop attention.

Good luck to those who started him but he is not a must have yet.

If he can cop a tag and break it then it is a different story.

If that's true and he's a risk, we might see the record broken for reversed trades. I read that he is currently in 40% of teams.

I'm getting cold feet with this one, if Ablett is to be traded I think it must be to a guy who can replicate his scores, Sloane appears to be as safe as houses in that regard. The other aspect of picking up Bont is his 30% ownership, not exactly a POD and a few dud scores could bridge the gap. Maybe it's time to zig while the others zag.

I fell that Bont can be a Fwd keeper.  I don't want 30% of teams getting a jump on me - I'm on now.  Using Ablett as the trade also allows me to upgrade KK to Smith next week - gaining another keeper.  This game is all about risk vs reward - I think it's worth the risk.  Goodes and Ablett out this week, Bont and Van Berlo in.

I'm just worried about the next 5 weeks, can he produce anything close to what he's done in the first two weeks? I think Bont's range will be 95-105 this year, I just don't want to jump on during a quiet patch. Interesting that the other young guns have all fallen in that range in their second year, Bennell at the lower end, Martin in the middle and Fyfe at the top end. Big decision coming up, haven't yet decided.
Agree,  I chose him as F4 and happy as pie.    But I am expecting 95-105 average.   First two rounds are just cream.    Beleive he will average 95-105 over next 5 weeks.    Cant really see him averaging less than 90.     For me to downgrade to Bonts (FWD) and upgrade to Smith would be a blessing.  Unfortunately not able to do it.   So went JPK and NVB  will hold off on smith till I get more cash.

Anyone else think the number of people jumping on is an overreaction?  Wouldve been great to start with but surely dogs will lose more games than win from here on, Bonts will start getting more attention. My forwards are Gray, Franklin, Swan, Martin. Not worth getting rid of one of those, and dont have Ablett.

It's a risk and could easily go pear shaped if he struggles against the top teams, however I would gladly accept anything above 95 from this point on and given he is a forward I think he adds value even at F6. Second year blues maybe a factor but I did some research into some of the child prodigies and it's calmed my nerves a little.

Bennell - 22 games, 97.5 average
Wingard - 22 games, 98.6 average
Martin - 22 games, 98.9 average
Fyfe - 21 games, 108 average
Wines - 22 games, 100 average

I think these numbers are perfectly acceptable for a guy priced at 422k and given Marcus closely resembles Nat Fyfe in the way he approaches the game there may even be significant upside from the 95 base level. There is clearly risk in bringing him in now, especially given he'll be faced with a snarling and fired up Hawthorn but at least they don't have a Creepy Crowley who can put on the python squeeze.

Can he keep going? Im not expecting 130 average obviously but can he maintain a 100-110 average to be a Forward keeper? Top 6 forwards?

Bully

I've decided to let him go this week, I think the fact he's not trained is too much of a gamble, will closely monitor him as the season progresses and jump on if he towels up the Hawks & Sydney.
