Profile

Newton's name would always crop up when you asked Port supporters about exciting young players at the club but injuries and a lack of opportunities eventually saw him depart. His SANFL performances continued to improve in 2014 and while he rarely had massive possession numbers, he was able to compliment his scoring with plenty of marks, tackles, goals and a surprising amount of hitouts. Ben moved to Melbourne in search of more senior games and there's a good chance his wish will be granted if can perform well in the pre season. Priced at a very tasty 192k, there will be good money to be made if he gets a run of unvested games. I wouldn't expect a Dom Tyson-esque season but he's definitely one to file under "potential cash cow".

Pros - Big stat winner, rookie priced

Cons - Vests, js

Prediction - 57-60

Lol, I had already done a profile on Newton. ::)

Well, enjoy the encore. Here's the original... http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,99416.0.html

Should get games. But they have a lot of this kind of player.... The player who is a fringe afl player... id say they have about 15 of these kinda blokes fighting for 7 or 8 spots. He will get a gig in my side if he gets a round 1 berth!

GM

Wouldn't surprise me if he has a year like Dom Tyson had last year.
