Backs: Shaw, Hibberd, Newnes, Waters, Whitecross, Browne, (Dick, Goddard)

Midfield: Pendlebury, Selwood, Kennedy, Dangerfield, Greene, Heeney, Freeman, Amon, (Boekhorst, Smith, Krakouer)

Rucks: Maric, Naitanui (Cox)

Forwards: Gray, Deledio, Goddard, Swan, Bellchambers, Steele, (Hogan, Lambert)

Cash Left: $10k

Bit of a different team here. At first glance, it will obviously look like it's lacking some real ultra premium fire-power. However, it's a very structurally strong team. I went for value in guys like Greene, Dangerfield and Maric over the likes of Ablett, Rockliff and Mumford, but in doing so I have 14 premiums from the get go, and only 5 starting rookies (and let's not focus on who they are, they're all just placeholders for now).

I've been switching a lot between this and a (very generic) team with Fyfe/Goldy etc. for a while now, but thought I'd share it like this to see what you all think!

H1bb3i2d

I'll go first, too:

Backs: Shaw fulfils the round 13 bye. Newnes can hopefully go as well as any of the other D3s out there. Like most, I'll go cheap here to wait and see how the premiums pan out. I expect a huge cluster around the 85-90 mark, a few of which should be basement cheap at some point coming off a concussion etc. No real need to fork out premium money.

Mids: 1/2/2 premium bye structure. Selwood is the only one here who doesn't represent value, but has a nice round 13 bye. Pendlebury and Kennedy will be top 8 mids. Dangerfield is my bolter (with a round 11 bye). Greene is my real gamble, but even if he stays around the 105-110 mark, I can trade him after round 12 to someone coming off a bye, avoiding a donut, thereby still gaining points.

Rucks: If Maric can come within a few points of Goldy, he's much cheaper and avoids having 2 round 13 bye ruckmen.

Forwards: I've given my reasons for Belly elsewhere. Deledio, Swan and BJ will all be top 6 and represent value. Gray is the only one there who doesn't, but just like Selwood, will be in the top few and is a country mile ahead of any other forward with the round 13 bye.

So there's all my reasoning for anyone wanting a long read!

I'm a huge fan of this team and setup.

DEF: Looks the goods. I also have Newnes in my current side, expecting him to average at least 90 this year. You could probably downgrade Whitecross for some extra cash as it's highly unlikely that he will play round 1.

MID: Looks great. I have also gone without Ablett, Rocky and Fyfe and used the cash elsewhere. I was all over Greene earlier but have cooled off a bit now. I would prefer his teammate Ward who I think is a safer bet.

RUC: Love this ruck setup. Both players look to be underpriced and are set and forget.

FWD: Looks really good. I think Gray is very pricey though so would have a think about downgrading him to Dusty. Any reason for no Mitch Clark though? He will play round 1, is cheap and should post some nice scores.

Really great team. Well done. 9/10.

Love the team hib, only things that appeal to me. Gray I think will be once again the top forward, or close to it, but think buddy will be close behind and i would rather buddy and pocket the cash. Also would go belly - Clark and then I think you'd have around 310k which you could use on upgrading all your 'nearly Premo' to supers. Also don't think WhiteX will crack the tough Hawks side with guys like birch and suckling but wait and see I guess! Great team and well done m8!

DEF: i like, good picks...
MID: Would like to see GAZ in there.. downgrading green>steven then upgrade pendles/jelwood probably way to go.. still good.
RUC: Like maric pod!
FWD: All reallly good picks and the cover works.

PRobably want that $$$ for rookies so you can easily fix it up if need be, just precautionary not that it matters this early.

Def:  WhiteX probably not playing early.  maybe Ibbo if you can afford him.
Mids: Not sure Greene and danger will improve.  Understand why you got them but consider, Heppell, Watson,  or upgrade to Rocky/Ablett
Fwds:  Superstrong line up

Money Shot

I actually like this team a lot.
Back line is pretty good and although it is slightly weak compared to some I think this is the place to be going weak.
Mids aren't too bad either all good picks although you said it you are missing that ultra premium fire power but again this has allowed you to get more of those almost super premium picks in players like Maric, Danger, Greene and the likes.
rucks are great.
Forward line is super strong which I like.

This is what I would do.
Gray> Franklin/Martin or someone around that price you like as I think they will all score within 5 points of each other.
This will allow you to get one of Dangerfield to someone like Selwood which I think is an extra 10 points.
Keeps you with the same amount of premiums and the same bye structure also.
that's just my thoughts good team non the less

would love your thoughts on mine.

All right, time for my first update:

Backs: Shaw, Hibberd, Jaensch, Newnes, Waters, Goddard, (Dick, Viojo-Rainbow)

Midfield: Pendlebury, Selwood, Kennedy, Ward, van Berlo, Heeney, Freeman, Amon, (Boekhorst, Laverde, Steele)

Rucks: Goldstein, Naitanui (Cox)

Forwards: Deledio, Goddard, Bennell, Swan, Bellchambers, Clark, (Hogan, Lambert)

Changes are:

Danger -> NVB: freed up cash.
WhiteX -> Jaensch: dont think there will be 4 good rookies in defence.
Gray -> Harley: more cash. Think Harley can explode. Could easily be Buddy though.
Maric -> Goldy: safer bet with spare cash.
Greene -> Ward: Ward really strengthens my mid premiums.

H1bb3i2d

Basically, I've gone back to some more conventional premiums, and freed up some midfield money to strengthen my defence. Defence, Rucks and Forwards are as strong as anybody's. Mids only lacking maybe 1 premium, but that's OK. Mid/Fwd is where the rookies will be. I still have 14 premiums anyhow.

Also have the same 4 premium 1 midpricer structure across the board. That wasn't planned, but I'm a big fan of how even it ended up. It makes dealing with injuries and making upgrades easier to manage (when everybody's midpriced defence just collapses, SC will plunge into chaos).

Hi Hib, How much cash left over?

I cannot fault this team at all. I like it a lot.

IMO I would sit on this team until the NAB matches.

Good point, forgot to post that. Only $10k (upgraded my cheaper D3 to Jaensch for $30k)

Looks good to me.
Personally I like Greene and am reluctant to trade him out of my planned team for someone better. If I did though it could be for Ward. My personal preference is to keep Greene and Buddy over Ward and Harley but if you like Bennell there's nothing I'd change. Nice set up.

cant really fault it.

Don't say that about my mid priced Defence :'(
Do you think Shaw, Walker, Newnes, Waters, Whitex, Goddard (rookies) is too weak :-\

anyways would love your thoughts on my team.

would sit on this till Nab Cup.

Jaensch is in an interesting pick, and probably the first team Ive seen with him - reckon he can back up last year and still play that same role? Think I'd rather Hurn, but he could be a great pick

Team looks great all over. I guess when you leave Gary out it really allows you go get all line right!

Yeah I did mention in your thread it could be a bit weak. It depends if WhiteX/4 rookies line up round 1, doesn't it!
