Hi Folks.

1st draft for the year, let me know your thoughts. I'm probably tad light on in the mids,  but I'll review after NAB cup.

POD: I'm considering is Josh Kelly in the fwd line, I think the kids a star and I'm hoping he has a break out year.

Remaining salary cap: $5,100 available.

Backs: H.Shaw, Hibberd, Walker, Whitecross, Waters, Ibbotson (Goddard, N.Brown)

Mids: Pendles, Jelwood, D.Beams, Treloar, Van Berlo, O.Rourke, De Goey, Heeney (Vanderberg, Laverde (f/m dpp), Freeman)

Rucks: Mumford, Leuy (Cox r/f dpp)

Fwds: Franklin, Bennell (f/m dpp), Swan (f/m dpp), Ziebell (f/m dpp), Bellchambers (r/f dpp), Clark (Kommer & Hogan)

Cheers

It's not to bad a team.
You have went light on in the mids but you have went strong in other areas.
I think you have spent way to much on rookies but I guess come nab cup you can always downgrade.
Very good team though.

Thanks Money,

I guess the key is to get the rookies playing consistent footy early on so they can quickly jump in price.

I considered Brayshaw and Petraca but I'm not sure they will start in the mids and its only chasing names atm.

What's your thoughts about Jack Steven from St Kilda as a POD (hopefully he'll have a bounce back year after returning from injury and Josh Kelly from GWS?

I don't really like Steven this year only because he will have more focus with a lot of the midfielders getting on and Hayes retiring and think if you look in the 530-550K there are many pod type choices that could go 110+ its just a matter of finding out which one. I would look at Wines for a pod will only get better and not many people will have him and I see him going 110+.
on Kelly I cant really comment as I haven't seen him play but I think out of the GWS boys Whitfield and Coniglio are my favourites to break out with Kelly right behind them.

I would go Whitfield/Coniglio/Kelly in that order.

J.Kelly will be a star, if anyone can do a J.Macrae of last year it's him... if you'r confident then id jump on!
Steven for me is a no, in the mids you need 4/5 100% safe guys imo. If he was 80-100k less id be 100% on him.

I think if he was 450k he would be a close lock for me but that extra 50k makes him to much of a risk.

Pretty Solid team, I like the look of Josh Kelly and he has the potential to breakout this year and is obviously part of a very talented side. I've gone with Steven at the moment but if i were to change a player in my team it would probably be him as im worried he will get too much attention from opposition. Also I wouldnt pick O'Rourke, cant see him getting too much game time and he would be fighting for games all year against high quality players that would start in almost every other team. A young kid like Blaine Boekhurst is a cheaper option and should get plenty opportunity at Carlton. Overall though great team and good luck for the year

Overall nice team.  A couple of notes, I don't mind the 4 premo midfield, but I think you have to go Ablett if you go that way (Ablett should be a must anyway).  I'd probably suggest trying to upgrade Beams or Treloar for him.  I'd suggest downgrading N. Brown to a rookie.  Although, if fit, Brown is easily a best 21 player for the Pies, he has always been a stopping defender and is not going to be cash cow material even at $146k starting price.  When he is fit his price is usually between $200-$300k.  Also your choice on Franklin, but be prepared for some frustration if you go with him.  His high averages will involve giving you a 150-200 point game one week and a 50 point game the next week.  I like Bennell & Ziebell as PODs.
