Profile

Quad and knee issues delayed Docherty's start to the 2014 season but when he finally debuted for Carlton he displayed plenty of promise from both a football and fantasy perspective. Two 100+ scores in his first four games showed he had a decent ceiling and some solid, if not spectacular, scores followed. He is far from a stay at home defender and this was highlighted by the fact he kicked 7 goals in his 16 games while also racking up 20+ disposals on six occasions. He won't come cheap but I believe he could represent good value, particular given that many of the players that averaged more than him this year are nearing the end of their careers.

Pros - A developing player who has the potential to be a top 10 defender in 2015, 2:1 kick/handball ratio, low free kick against count, good ceiling, potential for D/M DPP

Cons - Carlton players have been an inconsistent bunch in recent times when it comes to fantasy and Docherty will likely continue to have the odd sub-60 game. There is certainly some risk in spending around 400k on someone who doesn't have much of a track record yet.

Prediction - 80-85

Sweetness

Great write-up MC, too pricy for my liking next year.

Ricochet

Yep another great writeup Craigy. Completely forgot about his knee issue last year
Going to stay away from most Carlton players next year, they're team structure is still developing so their scores are a bit all over the place
