GEELONG great Tim McGrath has revealed he has cancer and will undergo 12 months of treatment to fight stage three melanoma.

McGrath, who played 219 games for the Cats between 1992 and 2002, was operated on last month, with doctors removing 33 lymph nodes from under his right arm.

The 42-year-old father of three girls will start interferon treatment later this month, putting his life on hold and giving up work temporarily.

Sad new but hope it all goes well for him and his family !

Bumping this thread because of the discussion about Casey Tutungi. Good news that he is making progress....

The only remarkable thing about this is the flowering ignorant doctors who continue to 'point the bone' despite evidence that it harms the patient.

I can only presume that this brave young guy told his doctors to stick their prognosticating up their cake holes and now he can show them how wrong they were.

Their opinions are just firmly held beliefs that are far too often read as gospel.

Keep believing!
