I understand what you're saying here Vin but I have to disagree with you also.

Rocky two sub 100 scores also.

I term a respectable captain score as anything over 120 (anything over that and they're going big, right?)

Pendles - 11/18 over 120 - 61.11% chance of having a good captains knock.
Rocky - 8/15 over 120 - 53.33% of getting you a respectable 120+ score.
Fyfe - 9/16 over 120 - 56.25% of going over 120.
Selwood - 10/18 over 120 - 55.55% of a 120 score.
Beams - 8/17 over 120 - 47.06% of that 120 captain score.

Now who's more likely to get a good captain score? And boys if you wait for a 140 score every week chances are it may not always happen with the two chances you get at choosing it. 120-140 is very respectable as a captain score.

How often do you take 120 wth the VC? Not very often I would have thought. Joel Selwood has scored 140+ 6 times this year, Rocky 5 times, Fyfe 4 times & Beams 3 times. These are the numbers that are important IMO.

Vinny

120 isn't enough for a captain man, you wouldn't take 120 from your VC, you'd be unsure about 135 but definitely take 140.

140+ is a good captains score. Pendles is a freak but going 140 twice makes him a reliable scorer probably the most reliable but hardly the best captain choice this year. A decent option but far from the best.

Pendles is likely to get a satisfactory score as captain but not something you'd be happy with it.

But Pendles is still Mr Reliable.

As I said how many times are you going to be lucky enough to take 140 as a VC score especially early when you're producing your team? You only get a VC and C crack (two out of 22 chance) at a good score and I dare say you won't always land a huge score on your VC and many times your C will only get you 120-140 odd.

How long did you have Jelwood/Rocky/Fyfe all in the team to take into account their scores? You only had Pendles and Beams really (taking out Ablett as he's not apart of this and I dare say Beams wouldn't have been used much). Think about it that way, open your mind to it.

Pendles has been ordinary since Ablett has been out, in the meantime we've seen Selwood knock out 3 140's, Rocky a 175, Fyfe a 171 & Beams a 161 & 141. Based on current form Pendles is no longer a reliable captain.

GoLions

How about this

If your VC flops, Pendles is the best C choice

However, when actually making the decision to choose your VC and C at the start of the round, particularly at this point in the season, most will be going with Fyfe, Rocky, Jelwood as they've been in better form and more likely to give you a big score

Totally not making Pendles C this week...

One of Rockliff, Fyfe and Jelwood have been in almost everyone's team for the majority of the year. Pendles has been good but he hasn't scored as a captain. I am not doubting how good Pendles has been.

But really the fact is 140+ is a good score and Pendles has cracked it twice. Yes he is good when you just need a solid 120 on a Sunday as C. He cracked 130 once in the first 9 rounds which was reliable but even then not a great C score.

On this year alone, he cannot be backed when you want a huge score as captain to get a head start on your league opponent. When there is plenty of other guys especially recently who have gone huge, Pendles isn't the go to captain anymore.

This is true which pretty much means this year Pendles is hardly the go to man but just another option as C.

Alright, I understand and I'm not pushing this any further, no point hahaha

It means he becomes a POD captain as more and more jump off him and jump on the bandwagon of scores that Fyfe/Rocky etc have been scoring and forget how good Pendles really is - This weekend in a Semi Final is perfect.

Vinny

Haha what you mean more and more jump off? We still have him but just not putting the C on him. Rightfully so considering his fom.

He is due for a massive score for sure, but we have said that for a while. :P

Then last part of that quote isn't meant to be so big by the way.

_wato

Jump off plugging him with either the VC or C Vin, what'd you think I meant? ;)

I can't wait for one of Rocky/JPK/Fyfe to all fail as captain choices (been waiting for a little while hahaha) and Pendlebury dominates, could be the thing that makes you apart from other teams.

Pendle's form has been somewhat 'off the boil', he seems to be often 'running out of room' which leads me to think he'll relish the wide open spaces at Subi this week.  Boomer v GWS this week, and he's overdue for another biggie. Could be a good quinella. ;)

Hazza09

Not sure if this helps but a reliable source has mentioned that Pendles has been suffering from Hamstring complaints over the last 3-4 weeks. Im not saying this is true or not in regards to his form but just putting it out there.
