FREMANTLE coach Ross Lyon says his side's premiership credentials are not as solid as they appear.

The Dockers won their eighth straight match on Sunday, beating Greater Western Sydney by 76 points at Patersons Stadium, to climb to second on the ladder behind the Sydney Swans with matches to come against St Kilda and Carlton either side of the bye.

But while some in the football world see Fremantle as a heavyweight well placed to feature in a second successive Grand Final, Lyon thinks his side still has some major tests to come before they can be considered genuine premiership contenders.

"What we've spoken about internally is we've tracked along OK but earlier in the year Port Adelaide beat us, Sydney beat us, and Hawthorn," he said on radio station 6PR on Monday night.

"In the ensuing weeks we play Geelong, Hawthorn, and Port Adelaide, three of the top five.

"So until we beat those teams our credentials aren't as solid as we would like them.

Cats and Port arent flying though. Hawks v Freo will be a cracker of a game.

4th spot is up for grabs now as Swans, Freo and Hawks will be top 3.

We weren't flying when we played Sydney, Hawks or Port either. Against Hawks we were missing Fyfe, Barlow, Dawson and ZClark. Against Sydney it was without Barlow, Dawson, Ibbotson, ZClarke and Walters. And against Port we were without McPharlin, ZDawson, Ibbotson and Walters.

I dont think any team is at full strength yet, but come finals time it is going to be a real tussle

Yeah and you guys got absolutely hammered vs Hawthorn and lost to Sydney when they were 1-3 and doing even worse

Freo still have Ibbo, Waters, McPharlin, Hill to come back whilst Balla may be having a rest as well.
Hawks have Gibson, Lake, Sewell, Hill, Riolli to come back
Swans have Shaw, Tippett and Hanners to come back

All 3 teams have had some great guys who have come in as well. This is going to be one hell of a finals series

I think it is very important to try and makes sure we finish top2. At our best I think we have Freo covered and can beat them at Subi, but I am still slightly scarred by last years final.

Would rather just meet beat them at the MCG in the GF!!  :P

Way to hijack the Freo thread and turn it into a Swans thread
