I disagree with a few of your points. Firstly, Watson's second best career DT opponent is the Roos and his last three against them are 121, 132, and 110. Hampson will be the sole ruck in the Tigers lineup this week meaning that, at the very worst, you'd expect around 65 or so but, more realistically, 75 points. Michie getting 95 points in his second ever AFL game would be a miracle. Think about what most rookies do in their first few games, even if they've had multiple preseasons. You're really thinking more in the 60-85 range.

Let's be generous and say he scores 80 points, Hampson only 65, and Watson only 110. That'd mean Cox would have to score 95 flat for it to be a tie (practically what Cox averaged last year).

Cox without Naitanui last season averaged 105 points. Cox with Naitanui playing averaged just 88. This week, he has to come up against Will Minson (i.e. a very, very good ruck) and Naitanui will steal most of the ruck time. Not looking great for the big fella...

Basically, Cox + Michie really shouldn't beat Hampson + Watson. I'm not saying it's definite either way, but the number strongly suggest the latter pair...

Good points either way, and now I'm very eager to see how this pans out! I don't think its a horrible idea, just playing devil's advocate and throwing another opinion out there...but we'll revisit this after the split round.  ;)

I think you were being very generous with believing hampson will even score 65 he has never averaged 65 in all his years at Carlton. He can not mark and is extremely slow around the ground.
Lets say he gets 35 hitouts (which is pretty generous), he isnt a ruckman that gets his hands dirty so he will barely tackle. I honestly cant see him getting 10 touches.

New club, fresh start, new motivation, worth the punt for round 1.

"New club, fresh start, new motivation" won't change the fact he is slow around the ground and can't mark
