Crack at a hotly contested league final. $$ to Burn

Hi All,

After my league win this year. I need to be consistently well inside the top 1000 each week to have a shot I've teetered just outside or there abouts for the last 2 years but fall down in the finals due to lack of trades left.

Have been unlucky with injuries in the past (Haven't we all) and had to trade to get the weekly win in a hotly contested league.

Help me have a crack at the title this year by ensuring my teams well rounded and poised to strike a big enough score each week.


DEF: Bartel, Mitchell, Hanley, Suckling, McDonald, Langford (Fuller, Georgiou)

MID: Ablett, Pendles, Murphy, Beams, Thomas D, J Martin, Michie, Dunstan (Sheed,Garlett)

RUC: McEvoy, Sandi, (Thurlow, Nankervis)

FWD: Danger, Martin, Buddy, Pav, Higgins, Rohan, (Taylor, JKH)

I have $185 k to play with.

Concerns are the;

Defence:. Do I upgrade a defender? Which one and to whom?

Midfield: Thoughts about downgrading Daisy to Polec or similar to spend more on prem defender?

Ruck: Thoughts on McEvoy as POD will Hale/Roughead/Rookie share rucking duties and diminsh his point scoring ability?

FWD: Should I swap Rohan out and look at getting a Rookie cash cow? What is the verdict at present on ROOKIE forwards? Should I bring Garlett up fwd for Rohan and get Polec in my midfield?

any other suggestions?

In Defence I would try and trade Langford out to even someone as cheap as Webster just for that extra security.

J.Martin isn't worth it get someone like Tyson or Aish instead of him try and get rid of Murphy for a premo like Watson

I don't like Pav and Caddy is looking like a good player for 100k less

Have been deliberating and reading all morning plus having a look at how the rooks played yesterday, injuries, prospects yadaa, yadaa...

Thanks for the feedback. I've made quite a few changes and here is the team as it stands.

DEF: McVeigh, Mitchell, Hanley, Suckling, Webster, McDonald? (Clurey, Georgiou)

after 32 poseesions yesterday and having a good hard think about it. i like McVeigh over Bartel for sure.
I've got Webster in there at moment what do others think of scoring potential and JS?
? on McDonald as to his JS given the reports/posts on North's staacked defensive line...?

MID: Ablett, Pendlebury, Murphy, Beams, Tyson, Michie, Polec, Dunstan (Aish, Ellis)

Have gone Murphy as POD. he had a bad year, injuries, 1st year captaincy. I expect the dust to settle and he will come out firing. That being the case he is excpetional value. I may yet change here as i have some cash to play with.
Aish, watched him play some games and he reminds me of days spent watching Gibbs at Glenelg. An absolute talent.

RUC: McEvoy, SAndi (Thurlow, Nankervis)

I'm not sold on rookies, only due to talk around town. Are there better options here?

FWD: Danger, Martin, Roughy, Pav, Higgins, Rohan (JKH, Impey)

May change Pav to Buddy yet. Other options worthwhile considering? May consider your take on Pav to Caddy Anthonyyy and use cash elsewhere...
