He's won two AFL premierships and a Norm Smith medal, but former All Australian Ryan O'Keefe is doing anything but sulking after being dumped to the Sydney Swans reserves.

Sydney's thumping 23.18 (156) to 3.7 (25) win over Eastlake in front of a sparse Manuka Oval on Saturday is a far cry from the bright lights the 33-year-old is accustomed to.

He's using the time in the North-East Australian Football League to give back to the club that has given him plenty.

As he has done all his career, he's adopting a selfless approach to his situation.

"It's not about trying to be best on ground, it's about helping the development of these young guys,'' O'Keefe said.

"I've been there and done it, and I'm passing my experience and knowledge on to them. I'm getting a thrill seeing them get better each week.

"It's easy playing with guys 12 years younger than you, they give you a bit of enthusiasm.''

The midfielder faces a tough task to break back into the AFL after the Swans' strong wins over Hawthorn and Essendon.

"The boys are playing really well and our injury list is pretty much non-existent,'' he said.

"I've been enjoying it, its more onfield coaching and giving the boys some real-time feedback.''

Despite the lopsided scoreboard, O'Keefe is already doing his best to sound like a coach after describing the first half as ''disappointing''.

The Swans outscored the Demons by 81 points in a devastating final-quarter burst.

"It was a bit disappointing today, especially the first half,'' he said. "We played some selfish footy, and it wasn't how we want to play.

"In the second half we went back to what we want, and we capitalised.''

The loss soured the 200th game of Eastlake stand-in captain Ashley Pocock, 194 of which were with the Tuggeranong Hawks.

Eastlake simply ran out of gas late, and played one man down after Chad Gibson injured himself in the warm-up.

"We expected it to be tough obviously, but I thought our first three quarters were pretty solid,'' Pocock said.

"You try and watch what they do and learn from them, and take what you can out of these games.''

In Saturday's other local match, five goals from Nicholas Paine allowed Ainslie to improve its season record to 5-4 with a 15.15 (105) to 9.7 (61) win over Queanbeyan at Alan Ray Oval.

Is this the end for our two fav abbreviations?

Has Harry Cunningham and Sam Reid into the ruck/fwd role completely shut ROK and LRT from playing again???

Could well be. Pebbles is having fun in the 2s but could easily fit straight back in if required after killing it in the 2s. LRT is having calf issues atm though. Reid will need to do more rucking this weekend if Derickx and Tippett dont play this weekend
