Can someone please explain to me what the deal is with the round 1 system this year ...

I understand we get unlimited trades. But I am hearing from my mate that we can pick a team with only first half of the split round players and then pick a team for the second half of the split round ... then reset ya team and pick a team for round 2

i am confused

This sounds right to me according to the new rules this year. Except you don't reset your team for round 2 unless you want to replace all players as you have unlimited trades.

Basically you select a team, any of your players that play in the first week are locked in after the games have been played.

You can change the other players in your team that are not locked out after you see the teams for the second half of the split round this is why they have unlimited trades so you don't have a heap of players not named in the second week.

After the first round you can then change your whole team if you want as per rules (unlimited trades) until the start of round 2. (I don't like it either  ;)  ) After round two your team will be locked in and you can only change your team using trades (2 per week).

After round two players prices will change.

2014 Game Play Changes (AFL Site)

Player Price changes will occur after the Round 2 (previously it was after Round 3), rewarding those who get their Player selections right from the start.

Due to the split Round in Round 1 there will unlimited Trades up until the Round 2 lockout. Note that your Round 1 Score will still contribute to your Overall ranking and thus your ability to win the Overall prize.

All makes sense now, i think this is what they were trying to explain.

Don't know how they work this out  ???

Player Price changes will occur after the Round 2 (previously it was after Round 3), rewarding those who get their Player selections right from the start.

Everyone will have the best rooks/premo's after seeing how they score/perform because of unlimited trades up until round 2, if they have a bad game in round 2 i guess that's just badluck/poor judgement ? most people will have them anyway.
