Interested to hear people's thoughts? Had a pretty good game last night. 38 hit outs

henry

Only played around 3 quarters too, and was up against a decent ruckman in minson for the second half. I'm very interested in him, he's clearly the number one ruckman but I wonder how Stanley will effect how scores when he plays. On he watch list for sure but want to see a game with Stanley playing too before I put him in my team.

Didn't Stanley play last night? I personally think Stanley will only pinch hit in the ruck. Hickey will play the ruck role for most of the game. He's on my watch list.

Ricochet

Very interested in him now. Seems to be all over Longer at this stage

Yeah Stanley did play, but he didn't do much.
The thing I'm worried about is Longer and Stanley will take ruck time away from him  :-\
But I'll certainly be watching him.

With TOG stat now available time some interesting stats

Minson 47% TOG with 64 DT Points and 30 H/O
Cordy 35% TOG with 35 DT Points and 18 H/O
Supplemented by Campbell
Hickey 77% TOG with 85 DT Points and 38 H/O
Stanley 77% TOG with 26 DT Points and 3 H/o
Longer 19% TOG with 20 DT Points and 7 H/O

So what does this say
Minson dominated for the time he was on field - Cordy is probably not the desired back up for Dogs so still need to look in that area.
Whilst Hickey looks good needs to be put in perspective as to who he was rucking against,

So in summary I will keep an eye on Hickey nut he is not an option for me at the moment.

I just read over on DT Talk that Hickey only got 15 of his 85 points while rucking against Minson. It's probably a stat that turns me off him.

That's interesting, he do instead against Cordy, but Cordy is a spud  :P

I think the biggest factor here is that Longer and Hickey didn't play much/if any time together for the entire game.  This says that Saints are only looking to play 1 ruckman, and at this stage Hickey looks like he's winning, so whoever it is who gets #1 ruck duty will prob be the sole ruckman which is a positive and possibly worht a risk after seeing the next NAB game.

blues boy

Hickey looks like he is the saints preferred number 1 ruck at this stage but he was dominated by big wil once he came on!

Thats going to be the case with all young ruckmen, just depends what he does around the grounds I guess.

Spanner221

It's been said a lot this preseason that 1st ruck position is Hickey's to loose. Just him playing well means that he has maintained it. Only question is his scoring ability.

Braxtonators

I currently have Hickey and Sandi as my on ground ruckmen - gives me great options in most other lines.  If they can both be number 1 ruckmen for their teams and stay injury free for 6 rounds, score 70s - 80s I will be a happy man.  Worth the risk?  I will let you know after round 6.....or before if it all goes downhill.
