Ive always ran with the premium / rook strat and it has served me well getting me inside the top 5k overall the last few seasons.

With the new increased prices for 1st year players , and not many mature agers picked this year compared to the GWS / Suns comprimised drafts - Ive decided to try a mid priced strat

The more I think about it, the better I think it could work.
Upgrading / downgrading will be easier - no waiting for prime price to cash in rookies.
No sweating on playing rookies in my side getting vested / rested

If I jag 1 or 2 break outs Ill be happy - generally if I can get 100k out of a player to trade - Im pretty happy as 30 trades is a truckload to have at my disposal

I think it seems easier to trade a player (that ive had from rd 1) around 400k treading water - get in a performing rookie = easy upgrade to a super premium from another midpricer treading water...this way I dont thik it would be that hard to get in say Ablett, Pendles Griffen etc

I remember last year starting with Viney, Daw and these types - only to have them sitting there doing nothing for weeks and eventually pulling the trigger as they were dead weight - getting nothing really for it.

Ive stuck to a specific strategy of having no mature players changing clubs, players age, newly coached teams, good draws, clubs with high player turnover, injuries opening up opportunities etc.

Def:You have saved money here may have some breakout players,Atley & Smith but Birchall may get tagged this year
Mids:First of all i will start with the positives the rookies you have. and Beams. The negatives are a few too many mid pricers and no Pendles or Ablett
Rucks I would look at a better Ruck than Maric.
Fwds:Rougheaad to Gunston and Bock to JKH

Summary: I THINK THIS TEAM IS just OK  too many players that won't score highly 6/10

Thanks for your opinion

Birch already gets tagged often and still goes ok - Hawthorn are very team orientated and provide blocks - help out each other - if cyril stays back - they will tag him before Birchall

See above for arguement not starting Ablett and Pendles - I can get them easily in if this strat doesnt work - which will more than likely be the case as the break out bolters become apparent in rounds 2-4,  if i get them now then I need to take out other potential break outs that are guaranteed to play and replace with rooks who have a very high vest & rest risk

Maric carried groin soreness last year and still scored ok, look how he went the year before, he is Richmonds sole ruckman, Richmond are expected to win more games this year - my opinion Maric will definately be in the top 5 scoring ruckman if he stays fit

Roughead rucks (points stack up easily with 1 or 2 goals) and is an absolute gun - watching him live is mind blowing how good / hard at it he is, Gunner will struggle with no Franklin, he will now be taking the 2nd best defender. I have tried to steer away from KPP mid pricers / premiums full stop because of the rotation rules being introduced - running players will be rested forward more = more points IMO

I watched the Suns Monday night and they were screaming for a big bloke up forward, Dixon is a big unit, May is still developing, I reckon Bock will be playing up front with Dixon. Prestia, DodgeyTV, Ablett, Bennell, Swallow, Harbrow and Jager will be all lining up to bounce it off the top of his head probably more than 20 times a game. Bock is a massive unit - he will kick a few with the constant supply

You are right too many players wont score highly but its very hit and miss who does end up scoring highly. I dont think your suggestions to get in higher scoring players of JKH & Gunston over Ruffnuts and Bock reflects your view.

Depends what your aim for SC is.

If it is for League wins than by all means it could work

If it was for the 50k you have no chance with this side.
