Defenders: Must gets, POD's and one's to watch

I think a lot of the issues people are facing this year with their team is their defence so I'm hoping this thread will be able to help people out.
MUSTS: Obviously the first one on basically everyone's team is Suckling. At 312k, he's bound to rise in price and average around the 80's (possibly 90's).
Either one of more of Walker/Mitchell/Mcveigh is needed. Quite a no-brainer with them all averaging over 100 points and are match winners.
POD's:First one up is Shannon Hurn. Had an injury that cut his season short in 2013 but seems to be over it (nab cup will show if he fully is). Priced at 472k, he's a great POD considering the easy draw the Eagles have. Not to mention, he's average was affected thanks to being vested in round 13 (only scored 8). Without that match, he averaged 94.7 points.
Next is Corey Enright. He was one of the best players on the ground in the nab challenge thus, he could be a great pick to even spend some cash elsewhere. He could be a downgrade for Hanley who might get the tag at the lions.

ONES TO KEEP AN EYE ON: D.Swallow is one of the players in everyone's team. Everyone is expecting him to have a breakout season and rise to a premium however, nab challenge will give us a real insight if he can become a premium or not. Nevertheless, he's a cheap option at 429k.
Jimmy Bartel's scores may drop with coach Chris Scott indicating that he will spend more time in the forward line. Every coach should be weary that his points may drop due to his change in positions.

I'm sure we can add more to the list so I hope everyone can contribute :) I don't have enough time to go through rookies but certainly people can go for it.

Lachie Hansen. He is going to be the new Sam Fisher

Have Suckling, Mitchell, Hurn, Enright and Swallow in my defense from this list.

A few nights ago Enright's big game made me look into him. Last 8 years over 92 average including a 101, along with only 2 scores under 80 (76 and 61) and 8 100+ last year, while only missing 5 H&A games since 2006!

Must Have
One of mitchell/McVeigh,  both are guaranteed to be top 10 def, set 1, or both and forget.
Think suckling is close to a must, though was contemplating not picking him.

POD
Shaw - Yes he could get more attention at gws and has struggled with the tag in the past. But is now vice captain, could be a full time mid/wing, assuring he wont get dragged to the goal square. Also, his team mates will look to give him the ball on the outside to utilize his run and carry and long kicking to good use feeding it up to Cameron and co out of the fwd line. Outside goddard, who is no longer a mid, consistantly one of the best def over the past 5 years.
Hanley - Same goes for hanley as shaw, big cieling, struggled with tags. His best is brilliant, if he canshake the tags could average 105, big if but worth a punt.
Hibberd - breakout season last year, havent seen him in many teams. Strong, good in the contest and kicks more than handballs, still young with room to improve.

Watch
Grimes - hurt us before, could he get it right this year?
Swallow - big talent, more midfield time = more points??
Williams/Seedsman - Seedsman injury means he may miss the start of season. These two are likely to pick up the rebounding points from Shaw leaving the club. Both young and have a lot of improvement left.

Is Swallow really in everyone's team. He's not in mine. When did this happen? Flavour of the week or month?

There was a lot of talk at the end of the season that if he got DPP he would be a lock in a lot of teams. He finished the season strong and his price is appealing.

Not for me either but have an eye on him. More interested in Grimes at about the same price, question of if I go Hibberd at d4 or take a risk on grimes and save 100k.

Hes not in everyones team, the DTtalk boys mentioned him as a breakout candidate.  Basically his brother stepped up his scoring in his 4th season, so its considered the same may happen to D Swallow.  Still will be fairly unique unless he kills it in nab.

Safe to say he will stay out of my team I think. Happy with Simpson at D4.

Never considered him. Much prefer Grimes at D4.

cortez

I'm not going with him, spending the extra 40k and taking hurn at d4

Regarding the Swallow commenting, I've seen a lot of teams have Swallow at D3 which is very weak. It's a huge risk having him at D3 and if he doesn't score high, you're relying on your Premiums to score which isn't enough. Swallow at D4 is ok however, I'm not a huge fan of him but will keep an eye out for him over the nab challenge to see his scores and any improvements.
