B: McVeigh, Bartel, Birchall, Suckling, Kolo K, McDonald (Cutler, Fuller)
M: Ablett, Pendles, Beams, Thomas, J.Martin, C.Beams, Tyson, Sheed (Dunstan, Langdon)
R: Minson, Goldy (rookie, rookie)
F: Dangerfield, D.Martin, Wingard, Franklin, Billings, Garlett (Taylor, Kennedy-Harris)

Kitty: $4,800

A little different in that i solved the ruck question by just going two set and forget rucks. Possible a little light in terms of mid premiums but still plenty of value in the team and potential top 6 backs/forwards.

Langdon has been picked for the first NAB game and could be a nice DPP link with McDonald.

Interested in peoples thoughts?

I like it!
I have Goldy and Nic Nat atm. Thomas at m4 is risky but could work

The 2 super premos in the ruck mean you are a premium short in the midfield and also have a weak defense with Suckling (only 50/50 to play round one) at D4 and rookies at D5,D6.

See if you can at least upgrade one of your rookies in the midfield to a premium midfielder to have more balance.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I agree i am probably a mid premium short but i will watch the likes of Sandi/McIntosh/Grundy in the NAB before decided to drop one of my gun rucks down to generate the cash needed.

I think most people will have McDonald/Kolo on the ground down back so minimal risk there really - and every team i have seen has Suckling.  If he doesn't play round 1 then that changes mine (and most peoples) entire structure potentially.

Cheers.

Like your plan man.

Just allow me to give you my reasoning a to why I won't be doing it.

The chances of both Minno and Goldy keeping their price that high are low in my opinion. This means If I hold off in order to pick one up at a slightly reduced price I can benefit.

The chances of Sandi NOT increasing in price is low.

So I hope to get a plus return from Sandi, grab one of your top guys at a discounted price and use the money to grab points elsewhere.

The only downside is I will use an extra trade but I figure I can squeeze an extra keeper in elsewhere to make up for it. (Mids seem to be where keepers are better value than the top 2 ruckers)

Or I might be wrong!

Do not mind it still count 12 premos amd maybe another 2 possible.

Question you need to ask yourself if going for overall is will Minson or Goldy average the same as a super prem eg Rocky, Watson, Jack, Libba etc, If yes OK but if not you could be losing 20ppg + till you get the mid premiums right. ATM as well your 3 premo mids all have the round 8 bye as well.

Assuming you have factored Rookie rucks in your pricing.

Also need to watch who is playing Round 1 and suspect you will have 3/4 not playing as well.

For the record I am one that does not have Suckling.

Thanks tor01doc :)

I agree the in theory with you observations.  My final starting rucks will depend on how much confidence i get from watching the likes of Sandi in the NAB.

If he plays multiple games and shows he can move freely i will probably lock him in and upgrade one of my mid rookies to the likes of Murphy/Cotchin who i think are both well under priced.

I certainly have gone off the idea of starting Sandi/McIntosh or even worse Grundy/Lobbe who are still very much unproven in my eyes.

The other things that affect structure include if Thomas/Suckling get up for round 1 (seems likely) and if other "cheaper" rookies present themselves as genuine options in the NAB.  If you could take Kolo down to a cheaper option who is lock for round 1 then that also frees up cash.

Long way to go :)

Thanks Ringo.

Minson/Goldy both averaged around 113 last season so that is actually more then Rocky surprisingly.

The question is more how much will the alternative average in Sandilands and how many games will he play ...

No suckling = madness if fit surely.  What is your reasoning?  Is it purely injury related or do you have concerns over job security?  Or is there a better option at that price?

Ringo will be selecting Suckling - just you wait and see.

I really like the Sandi and Daisy / Murphy / Cotchin combo over the Minson or Goldy and a risky mid priced centre to start with.

Sandi has such a high ceiling that he just needs to play 6 - 8 games to make him worth selecting.

I can't see many alternatives in the available price range in kids.

Eg Sandi and Cotchin = Goldy and $270000.

Players in that price range include fantasy favorites like Sheridan, Jetta, Stringer, Hoskins-Elliott and my personal favorite Matt Thomas!

Food for thought.

Tough call for me - the one spot that can kill your season early is in the ruck.

I finished about 9k overall last season and really suffered due to poor ruck selection.

Out of interest, you can also go close to Sandi/McIntosh/NicNac for the same price as Goldy/Minson (haven't done the math but must be close).  You can then use the loophole on those three.  It reduced the risk and also gives you an extra cash cow.

I agree that 6-8 games out of Sandi is enough but i have no doubt those 6-8 games will not come from the start of the season without him missing some in the middle - even if it is only being rested.  Freo will want him for finals so i expect them to "manage" him, especially in the 1st half of the season.

Unless people go Longer/Daw/McIntosh as cover then you need to lock in Thurlow/Hale/Dixon type combo to gain some cover.  The one thing that changes everything is if a genuine R3 shows up in the NAB Cup.

The Swans may play one of their backup rucks to support Pike as Tippett is already struggling with injuries in the preseason.  Then there is Currie perhaps from North or Thurlow with Belly going down.  Don't have that much confidence at this stage in any of them playing round 1 however ..
