Essendon ruckman Tom Bellchambers has today been placed on the club's long-term injury list, paving the way for one of the club's rookies to be elevated to the senior list.

Bellchambers is expected to miss at least the first month of the home and away season after having surgery on his injured left ankle.

The club can now select a rookie-listed player to replace Bellchambers on the senior list.

The Bombers currently have five rookies on their list including Patrick Ambrose, Cory Dell'Olio, Fraser Thurlow, Johnny Rayner and Ariel Steinberg who will vie for the position.

sounds like Thurlow's JS just got a bit better (or any other ruckman, but I'm leaning toward him)

Mr.Craig

Necessary move by Essendon.

For those interested Thurlow averaged 17.5 disposals, 7.9 marks, 2 tackles and 27 hitouts in the NEAFL last year for 106.5 DT per game.

I don't see Thurlow coming into calculations..

If anything I just see Daniher being the backup to Ryder.

hoping Rayner gets elevate tbh ::)

interesting to see how a national 800m runner wilL go in the AFL

Thurlow was a slight chance to get a game or two this season, now that chance has become less slighter
