Beams!  :)
hahaha my guess is that over 99% of teams will be starting Beams :) Suckling, Dusty, Danger, Mitchell & McVeigh will all be close behind. Daisy will probably be incredibly popular as well :)

I meant Beams even over Pendles, but yeah you're right.  The onlt ones out of that list I'm not durrently starting with is Dusty and bit unsure of Suckling as the Hawks have a pretty hard run due to the new fixture rules.  Mitchell will be in most teams, but he has a hell of a lot of tags to get through this year, if he wasn't a Def I think he'd be in a very low % of teams.
hahahahaha I don't think anyone who was serious about dt this season would select him  :)

I'm hold the same perspective as you on Suckling. I only have him because he's incredibly cheap and I don't want to miss out haha. Birchall is a bit too much in my opinion considering the draft and it would also leave 3 hawks in the backline (swapped Kade Simpson for Bartel on account of the byes).

Beams discount is the best starting deal dream teamers are ever going to get :) The kid is the next Dane Swan in terms of fantasy :) The only qualm I'm facing is whether I should start Buddy over Wingard  :-\

I'm not convinced on Port, my feeling is they had a fluke run last year and reality will hit in 2014.

Best thing about missing out on players is the unlimited trades after round 1.  Dump all the speculative trash and pick up the speculative gold, but also sucks because everyone will most likely have a similar team.

Back to my mid, I'm going with youth this year, Rockliff, S. Selwood, Cotchin, Liberatore, Beams and Daisy are sitting in my mids.  I can't imagine any of these guys dropping their previous averages, but most likely will raise them to new levels, can bring Gaj and Swan in later after they drop a few pennies.  Only problem I will face is who to captain each week.  Prob should drop one of them to another rookie to make some coin, but can't bring myself to seperate any of them.

Strong midfield man, I'm waiting to see how Scooter & Libba do (Scott will most likely go 110-115+ & Libba (if Griff is present) will go 105+) the rest are all already in my line up. I may drop Gaj as well and bring in scooter for r1 and then I have a full week to verify my decision. I think Beams would have to be the captain man :) I'd say he is the most consistent of the lot and we'll wait and see if Scooter overtakes him this season :)

Haha, didn't quote, it was just getting too much!

I'll give you two tips.

1. Western Bulldogs has the easiest run of all teams in 2014.

and

2. West Coast have a very easy run to start and isn't that far behind the Bulldogs

;)

Could go Brandon Ellis-> Libby but I like Ellis a lot and he is underpriced. The concern with Libby is if Boyd & Griff get injured he'll gain all the taggers attention. I personally don't know whether he can handle a tag or not but he does win a lot of contested possessions and was the no.1 player in terms of clearances last season so I don't think it'll really be an issue for him. I'll see after r1. If Ellis bombs I'll make the switch if Ellis scores 90+ I'll hold onto him :) So far my midfield is now Scooter, Rocky, Beams, Cotchin, Ellis, Daisy, O'Rourke, Polec, X. Ellis, Honeychurch

Griffen would play if his leg fell off, and Libba might not have broken out like he did if Boyd was fit and healthy.

Only reason I'm not even thinking about Ellis this year is becuase he still has the chance to bomb completley this year and its safer to go with some proven guys, well thats the way I've gone about my DT game and I've done pretty well so no point taking unecessary risks. However...this is the year to take a risk like that due to unlimited trades inbetween round 1 & 2.

Who knows, all I know is I can't wait for footy!!!

hahahahaha the unnecessary risk is the only reason I'm starting Ellis :) I want to find a POD (and I think it'll add a little more excitement to my season), if I was to play it safe I wouldn't touch him. I don't think he'll average 100, I'm personally hoping for mid to high 90's and I'm selecting him as a stepping stone or keeping him as a player who can occasionally bust out a 130+ (however less frequently than Scooter  :P ). If he bombs in the first game I'll throw him out regardless hahaha, I have $270k left for r1 so I'm thinking if Mitch Clark pulls out I'm going to swap him for Wingard (I've followed your advice and I'm going to start Franklin over him) but so far Libby, Pendles, Jelwood, Steven, Fyfe, Jobe, Stants, Gaj, Swan & Stevie J are my upgrade contenders :) depending on Ellis's performance there'll either be 3 or 4 spots. I'm confident Rocky, Cotchin, Scooter (three players who've disappointed me in the past) & Beams won't disappoint me this season :)

jvalles69

Double edged sword mate, if Ellis goes boom every man and his dog will have him!  The ballsy move would be if he subpar scores then keeping him will be the POD!  Not a good situation for good DT'ers this year unfortunatley.  Maybe give yourself a score (say 85) where if he goes above you keep him and if you go below you drop him?

Toga

If I were to start Ellis I reckon I'd keep him for Round 1 (vs GCS) and then drop him for Round 2 (vs Carlton) because of how Armfield stopped him last year. ;)

powersuperkents

So you guys think I should upgrade him now? He doesn't work with my byes and I already have Cotchin  :-\ What do you guys think?

Toga

I'm thinking I'll grab him for round 1 vs GC and then trade him up to Cotchin or Murphy or Rockliff before Rd 2 given our unlimited trades ;)

But could also be worth keeping haha :P
