New 'Fantasy Profile' board.

Not so much a complaint, but feedback. The new fantasy profiles board seems unnecessary to me, having the profiles in the SC or AF players and trades board made more sense, as they were so closely linked to that topic, so people could discuss they player in their profile which happened regularly.

Now it is necessary to switch between two boards to do essentially the same thing, which takes up more time which is a bit of a waste. On the new board you also have to look closely as it constantly switches from AF to SC every other profile, and as someone who posts mainly to one board this is very confusing.

Just my two cents, other people may like it this way but will just end up with spending more time navagating around the site instead of reading and contributing.

I think it was just to stop the players and trades boards getting clogged up with the profiles. :)

The guys that do them do a really good job so a board was deserved anyway.

I like to do the profiles myself, but now it means switching back and forth between boards constantly to do half my post on one and half on the other. Actually makes me a little less inclined to do the profiles as when searching for SC info on a player I will now need to search two separate boards. Just my view though.

And this is why it was done

Plus the directories for SC and DT are stickied up the top anyway

Guess ill have to agree to disagree, im regularly using a slowish mobile connection so going in and out of boards a lot is a drag. Ill still use it, still love the general way things are done, just personaly it will make it a little slower for me using things. Majority rules though.

Would it help if the boards were separated into two child boards of P&T? I hear what you're saying, it's not ideal.

Sounds like the best solution m0nty if it can be done or is it easier just to have a child board called player profiles under each of the three boards.

The other solution I have thought of and it would require discipline from those doing the profiles. Is to create an index as a sticky in the P & T thread which links to the relative profile created in the the Player Profile board. This could work easily as well as it is partially being done now.

Not wishing to create undue work for yourself.

Mr.Craig

I guess my issue with the the profiles being separated is that they were often used throughout the season to add info on injuries, form and other discussions. Now, people will have to either make new threads in P&T or post in the profile and hope people come and visit the child board. :-\

The current Directory could be kept in the P&T section and be updated there, where the Profiles can be kept in the child board. Not sure if a directory would be kept in both the child board for profiles + P&T boards, requires twice the updating instead of just updating one thread. So a little added work if this happens, but think just having one directory in the P&T section should suffice.

I agree that I think the profiles should get their own board but likely in a child board to the P&T sections, rather than a full board mixing in all the fantasy games together, which can really jumble everything up. Not to mention cause alot of people to miss them if they don't look further down the forum index. Requires the work to move them back but may be easier to manage instead of flipping between two boards for player information.

Money

I like the idea actually, I just don't think we should have SC/AF Player Profiles all together in one section

Vinny

Two child boards in the Fantasy Profile boards?

Well it's more clicking but it does organise it better.

LF

This is what I suggested in the first place
Child boards in each section

I have always wanted to look at merging the content from forum player profiles with the player profile discussions on the main site. So much great stuff here that should be promoted.

I could include code in the player profiles that would look in a particular board for posts with a specific title, e.g. "2014 SC Player Profile: Scott Pendlebury", and paste that into the profile page where the discussion threads are now. This would have to be in a board where mods would be the only ones allowed to start topics, and I'd have to start topics for every player each year with templates along the lines of what luvfooty and others have pioneered.

From those threads, I could manually promote individual replies to be official FanFooty profiles that appear at the top of the page. Those would just be text

Rather than three boards for DT/AF/SC, I think the ones for DT and AF would be much the same. I'd rather separate it into Basic Salary for DT/AF and other comps using just K/HB/M/T/HO/FF/FA/G.b, Exotic Salary for SC and anything else that might use more complex scoring, and then another one for Draft Leagues for Ultimate Footy, other private draft leagues and even XVs. Basic could then be put under DT, Exotic under SC and Draft under the Prive draft board.

What do you think of all that?
