Here's how my first team for the year is looking:

Ricochet

BACKS Like your premo picks in McVeigh and Mitchell, and Suckling for value but after that I think this line is a bit light on mate. Shaz is still on a modified program returning from injury and unlikely to play round 1 and fielding two rookies each week is a bit too risky for me.

MIDS Love all your premos here and DThomas for value. Rookies are also fine.

RUCKS Have the same R1 and R2. Both are great value and can pump out premo averages.

FWDS Again the Premo's here are fine and Buddy is too good of a value pick not to have him. Parker looks primed to take the next step also. Rookies are fine, I would also consider Kersten from Geelong.

OVERALL a pretty good side mate. I would like to see an extra premo in your defence like Birchall, but not sure where you would get the cash for that. Maybe Parker down to someone like Caddy will help.

pretty solid team indeed, would be interested to know your reasoning behind Brett Goodes? Like everything else including the Parker pick, good start

Cheers for the rates and advice guys! I'll get around to giving my opinions on your teams a little later. (A bit busy at the moment  :-\ )

Reasoning behind Brett Goodes is that I believe he can improve a lot more on his scores from last year, along with consistency. May get forward tagged a little, but he's been in excellent shape this pre-season so i'm betting he'll be able to break those tags.

I am thinking the same about goodes had him all of last year till injured and outscored most of my backs consistently , the only thing that stands out for me is no gaz or pendles in the mids .

Def: The first team that i have seen  Brett goodes in good luck with that one but i think  There are better options Swallow for one. I recommend that you only start one rookie on the field as there are not many top rookie defenders at the moment.
Mids: Very dangerous strategy leaving out both Ablett and Pendles would have one of those in.Sheed is no certainty of Starting so you may want to look else where.
Rucks: Would downgrade Nic Nat to Lobbe will save you money to get one of the 2 top premium Mids
Fwds: I don't have any problems with this forward line.

Overall Team has a few weaknesses i give it a 7/10

To be honest the more I think about it, Goodes was one of the blokes i relied on every week, even over some of my so called premiums, nice pick

Once again, thanks for the rates guys!

- I've considered Swallow, but until I see his Nab form and role for the season then I won't be picking him.

- Scharenberg and Laidler really just placeholders at the moment until something pops up. I'll more than likely do as suggested by most and upgrade one to a premo.

- I'm fine without starting Ablett and Pendlebury this season. Ablett more so, because I predict a decline in average and drop in price. Other years people have been killed by not starting him and waiting for a drop in price (as they've missed out on his monster scores) but I just don't think he'll be scoring those monster scores as frequently, thus the price drop will come sooner on. Pendlebury is a different story. I think with an improved midfield group, as well as Ball and Beams being fully fit, that Pendlebury may have the odd average game to start with. Meanwhile I believe Selwood could increase his average significantly, given the loss of a few senior players within the midfield. Add to this Rockliff being a full time mid (we saw how he scored as one last year), the general improvement of Liberatore (at that price) and the cheapness of Beams and Thomas. I can see Sheed being given a starting birth from round 1, so for now i'll keep him there, but as usual all my rookies are subject to being named and form in NAB.

- Not a big fan of Lobbe at all. The only other one i'm considering in place of Nic Nat is Leuy.
