QuoteLEIGH Montagna would seriously consider captaining St Kilda if Nick Riewoldt chose not to lead the side for a ninth season.

"It would be something I'd seriously consider," he said.

With the departure of Ben McEvoy, there have been questions raised over who is the natural successor to Riewoldt when he hands over the title.

If Nroo keeps the gig for 2014 you'd think Joey, being on the wrong side of 30, might be overlooked and someone like Jack Steven would be the natural successor?

Why would NROO give up the captaincy? He leads from the front and I believe is one of the best captains in the league?

I reckon your right mate, Almost certainly will go to someone younger youd think.

Jack Steven seems the only other appropriate person to take over as captain ,as I don't see anyone else capable.

Yep, at this point in time, he's probably the only option.

Forgot to mention that myself - leads by example and plays his heart out each week, great captain and think he deserves to keep the role of skipper

Master Q

It clearly states in the article if NRoo CHOSE not to captain. It's more of a case if he no longer wants to captaining or does not want the added responsibility.

Well there must be something that came up if they're willing to pose that question to him.

That's like asking David Mundy whether he'd take over from Pavlich. Bit stupid really.
