#10 Devon Smith - GWS Giants

Name: Devon Smith
Age: 20 years 5 months
Team: Greater Western Sydney
Position: Midfield/Forward
Bye: Round 9

2013 Low: 27
2013 High: 134
2013 Average: 70
2013 Pre-Bye Average: 67
2013 Post-Bye Average: 74.1

Fanplanner Price: 374,500

Predicted average: 80-85

Verdict: This is his third year, i'd expect him to step it up, has the bye in round 9 so you could make some quick cash on him and offload him just before his bye to a player coming off the bye such as Dusty, Boomer, Christensen and Tex could be back by then.

Just needs to cut out those shocking low scores of his (4 scores 42 or less) and he will be right. With another preseason under his belt he should be fitter and so should cut out those scores you would think. An average in the mid 80's sounds about right :)

Toga

Gun! I agree with what you & HoneyFan (:P) say here that with his natural development should come a bit more consistency and he should be able to push his average up into the 80s.

Love watching the kid play, that's for sure!

Not Crows Badger toga? :P

Will improve his average, but won't be fantasy relevant for a few more seasons. Should always keep his forward status too since the Giants have so many more mids ahead of him. Just glad I have him in Worlds though :)

Ziplock

He's awesome, but he'd have to develop into something amazing to ever be fantasy relevant with minimal mid time rotation.

Haha just ribbing ya, I like the new name 8)

Yeah I absolutely agree - because he's got that ability to be so dangerous up front I think that's the string in his bow that will keep him in the Giants team ahead of guys that play exclusively as midfielders.

Ziplock

I agree with his ability keeping him in the team, but honestly I  think it works to his disadvantage from a fantasy sense- his danger around goals means his midfield time and subsequent possessions will be limited.

MTTY

I'm actually predicting more midfield time for him. In my opinion the new interchange cap will benefit his midfield time and fantasy numbers greatly.

shaker

Awkwardly priced like a lot of GWS players just concerned he might not make a lot of money maybe next year.

jimmytigs

definately tweeked my interest when i saw him dpp this season

Problem I see with guys from GWS and Dees etc. is they perform so poorly that almost no-one scores well in SC.

Last season Ward avg 97 and the next best was Treloar 87. Also if any points are to be scored players like Mumford and Shaw coming in will take points. While they should improve will it be enough for players like Smith to break out in SC?
