Profile

The young Giants midfielder, who refers his hair as a 'salad' is coming into his 3rd season of AFL. Last season was a season of learning for the Giants where they finished with the wooden spoon with 1 win. Coniglio's numbers have been very solid in his early career with averages over 75 in his 2 seasons, or a combined average of 80 if we don't include sub affected games.

He has been playing in a very immature midfield with only the experience of Ward, Scully and Palmer to lean off. Which in my opinion are not the best mentors, but nonetheless Coniglio has played extremely well.

The road was a little bumpy for Coniglio in his 2nd season as he missed games from injury and being dropped for the round 12 clash against Port Adelaide.

Coniglio has shown exceptional leadership qualities and is part of the emerging leadership group at GWS

Verdict

What can we expect from Coniglio in 2014? He is coming into his 3rd AFL season and could join the group of 3rd year breakouts. If the Giants pull of a similar improvement in what the Suns did in the 2013 season, this could mean a major improvement in the output from Coniglio, one similar in Dion Prestia.

Coniglio can be a smart selection if you believe he will have significant improvement. He can be a good cash cow, especially that rookies now have an inflated price tag in 2014. Coniglio should bump up his average by 5+ points due to natural progression and more experience, though depending on how the Giants improve as a team could mean a greater improvement from Coniglio.

Prediction: 90 points (potentially 95)
