Welcome to From The Pavilion, the most amazing management game you will ever play. The first thing to get your head around is the key that is used when talking in the language of From The Pavilion, so read this table below:

Abbrev.Stands forDefinition
FTPFrom The PavilionPretty self-explanatory this one
YA/SAYouth/Senior AcademyEasy to say YA or SA, especially when on chat. Academies determine training speed.
expExperienceDo not underestimate experience on players, ever. Very important!
SRSpare RatingsThe amount of ratings points that you can't tell which skill they are allocated to
ord, avg, reas etc..ordinary, average, reasonableMost of the skills get shortened, easy to refer to them then
outs/outsOutstanding/OutstadingThis player is outstanding in either bowling or batting, and technique. Good idea to keep these levels the same.
YPYouth PullThe free youth recruit you make every Monday after finances and youth training updates
SODSenior One DayThe 50 over match played every Friday, biggest revenue collecter
YODYouth One Day40 over match fro 16-19yo's played on Wednesday's.

Ok, you have your team, and are unsure on where to start. A good thing to learn is the way a FTP week runs. You could ask someone to badly word it to you (like I have done many times) or you could go Office -> Schedule and have a read. The times vary for every country, but everything is on the same FTP day for everyone. :) FTP time runs 10 hours behind Vic time, and has no Daylight savings. So in summer it is 11 hours different.

Business time. Your starting team is crap, and unless you wish to have the patience to go homegrown (Buy no players ever), then you should start firing your current senior squad players, and inquire before firing youth squad players, some may be worth selling, but still best to fire the 18/19yo's there, as they are worht nothing. As a starting squad, you want 12 in each squad, 14 MAX, where you have a replacement batter and two backup bowlers, which you alternate based on conditions.

What comes next is buying players, and this is the fun, but tricky, and often annoying part. A good way to set up your initial squad is with a squad of 20yo's, with one (two MAX) older (25-27yo) players with higher skills to help you along. It's important here to keep track of wages, and not to overspend, and not be phased if 3,4,5 players you want go over your budget in a row. Be patient, it's part of the game! The rewards come to those who wait. It's important also to not buy below par players, which is where good transfer parameters come in.
