Thoughts
After an injury riddled 2012, 2013 unfortunately brought more of the same for the unlucky Cat. After playing the opening two matches, Varcoe once again succumbed to injury and again it was his fragile shoulder. Upon return, Varcoe was rushed back into the Geelong line-up and never hit top form; in fact he never came close. The Cats search for pace in their side brought about his quick return after a short stint in the VFL and Varcoe played out the year like a man bereft of confidence, and come finals time he was simply a man who didnt want the ball, a shadow of his 2011 self. Another query for him is his position, he began his career up forward, he has played off the half-back flank as well as going through the midfield. It is time he goes back to basics and plays across the half-forward flank with the hope of moving up field if his confidence returns. Varcoe failed to crack the ton throughout the year and will need a big pre season to simply make the senior side, as well as attempting to rid his body of injuries that have stalled his career.

Verdict
He simply has no confidence in his body or game at the moment, he has plenty of talent but is far too risky to select at his price. Showed promise of becoming a fantasy relevant player a couple of years back, but it would be a brave coach to select him.

Sad to see him always getting injured because he is such a great player to watch. Unfortunately I won't be considering him.

Far better options at that price range, but a nice write up shorty, :)

Grazz

Been a family friend for over a decade, but wont be going there either. Would love to see him stay healthy as his best is very good but we have only ever seen glimpses of it.

BRILLIANT Geelong forward Travis Varcoe has returned to training in excellent shape after being touted as tradable during the off-season.

Varcoe was praised by teammate Tom Hawkins on the Geelong website as a standout since the Cats returned to work on Monday.

" Trav was on fire today, he came back and was running at top speed which is sometimes not encouraged on our first day back but its fantastic to see - so there are some good signs for those boys, ' Hawkins told Cats TV.

Varcoe, 25, was placed on the trade table by Geelong in October, but remained a Cat after a suitable deal did not eventuate.

My Chumps

Just a bit too pricey and inconsistent for my liking. Can see him improving a lot though!

Not even on the radar, but having said that it may pay to put a watch on him. If he was coming good could be a downgrade after rd.8. Geelongs bye. Would have to be starting to show his best though.  But on reconsideration NNNOOOOOOOOOOO.
