GOLD Coast has locked in Michael Rischitelli for 2014 as it continues to build its midfield group.

Rischitelli joined the Suns in 2011 after winning the Brisbane Lions best and fairest in 2010.

He was impressive in his first season with the Suns and finished third in the best and fairest, however he has battled injury in recent years.

Will probably be his last though unless he has an injury free season and lifts again. Brennans retirement may help in this regard.

SydneyRox

really just a depth player though. Will be doing well to play double figure games.

He's only 27yo.

Yeah I can see him going three more if he doesn't have another big injury. Hope he finishes of his career nicely. :)

In a midfield that has Ablett, Omeara, Martin, Swallow, Prestia, Matera etc. There is no way he is better than these guys in 12months time (or even now arguably)

He's worth keeping around as depth, experience and a mentor to these young fellas though.

He is definitely one that made a mistake moving to an expansion club. I wonder if he would've continue to become a good player if he stayed at the Lions? He certainly won't have a place in the Gold Coast 22 for long.

Yeah depth in 2014. but he wont play many games next year unless he improves a lot, then since he only signed a year, at end 2014 is he a list clogger or depth?

Like I said, I reckon they would have reasons for keeping - such as experience and being a mentor. I'm sure both he and the club are hopeful of him being able to get senior games as well.

He had a great first year at the Suns, but then battled through hip tendonitis. Not sure what happened to him this year though.

Mailman the 2nd

I think it's pretty telling that he's only been given one year more.

I'd probably would've argued that he left with Brennan, but I guess they must want emergency depth
