What will the rest do?

Fremantle rested many of its best 22 against St Kilda in round 23. The Cats on the other hand played their best available in a one-point win over Brisbane. How will the contrasting preparations impact the result on Saturday, if at all?

While it may have appeared that Geelong struggled to beat the Lions, coach Chris Scott said in his post-match media conference that his side was well aware Fremantle, playing St Kilda at the same time, were being soundly beaten, leaving the Cats secure in second place.

"I've made a commitment to our players that I'll never lie to them. So we couldn't make the game, particularly in the second half, something it wasn't, given the situation in the St Kilda-Fremantle game." Scott said.

"It kept flashing up on the scoreboard, so all our players knew as well.

The fact that Brisbane had a lot to play for and we didn't really have anything, other than carrying our form through to the next week, had an impact on the game."
______________

The fact is we rested half our team.... there should be no excuses for not being able to run out the game.....

Fremantle must WIN this game or the rest would have been for nothing

12 rested (including late outs).

that's huge :P

Without upsetting people (Valk, it's not directed at you haha ), but 12 could be seen as , not tanking, but " we'll lose this one". Mind you, I do see why Freo wouldn't put their players on a plane to the cattery, but 12 is a, well, not trying to win scenario. I don't gamble(anymore lol) but for those that do, and picked certain outcomes months ago, it could be seen as throwing a game

it was more along the lines of 'It doesn't matter if we win or lose this one'

let's face it, it was against the saints, there was a chance they could have won anyway :P

For those of you that dont understand the issues that Freo and WC face..... the resting was because we would have to travel 2 weeks back to back.  Most people at 6ft or taller have issues in planes.  I am 6ft 3in and have issues on a flight from Perth to Melbourne - let alone do this once a fortnight.

Imagine how much hassle it is for Sandi?

Mailman the 2nd

Sandilands played though :P
