So I've been thinking about my final team and bench cover options. Running a little low on trades for what I would like due to some injuries. Current squad:

D: Goddard, Gibbs, Shaw, Ibbo, Terlich, Goodes (Clisby, Webster)
M: GAJ, Pendles, Swan, Griffen, JPK, Priddis, Mundy, T.Mitch (Mayes, Kmart)
R: Cox, Jacobs (Nicholls, Rowe)
F: SJ, Bartel, NicNat, Buddy, Rocky, JJK (Staker, Daniher)

This week I went Watson to SJ via Mayes, still considering reversing that and holding but at this stage I think I will get SJ in to finish my fwds. 7 trades left, 1 this round, 80k in the bank.

Here was my thinking for my final few trades:
Considering Goodes to Hanley this week but not sold.
In a couple of weeks, Jacobs + Nicholls to Minson + rookie (not necessarily playing). Then upgrade T.Mitch to a final M8. Origianlly I wanted to keep T.Mitch and Nicholls for bench cover but with those trades I still have 3/4 for finals (depending if I get in Hanley this week). Bench cover for ruck would be provided by Rowe <-> NicNat if Minson is out, or straight swap if Cox out. Play staker in my forwards. Cover for Mid could be provided by Mayes though I would more likely trust swapping him with one of my M/F forwards and again playing Staker. Clisby for defence.

This way conserves trades but it does mean that effectively Staker is my bench cover for 3 lines. Is it worth the risk or should I do another cash downgrade (Maybe Rowe to McBean for 100k) and keep Mitchell? Would leave me with 2/3 trades and still relying on Staker to cover F and R...

Ideas?

Good concept and surprised itnhasntngenerated discussion.
I'm running a flexibility over depth approach.
Brought McBean in as Ruck/FWD to open up a spot for Nicholls.
NicNat may come in as well.

Need to cut Thurlow to move Goodes back to DEF. will bring in either Colquhon or similar DEF/MID ( but don't really have the players to swing back & forth to make it work).
Likely get a dirt cheap FWD/MID instead to allow Zorko/Rocky/Steve to swing to mids.

It should save u some trades for short-term injury cover. If u get a playing rookie you really wouldn't want to rely on them come finals!

I would be tempted to go Watson to SJ Leaving SJ in the mids,  This gives you the swing option as well with Rocky and Bartell allowing you to leave Mitchell at M9. SJ is scoring just as well as any other options for M8.
Would hold on the Goodes Hanley trade as Goodes is showing enough to be a reasonable D6 - You can off load him in finals if need be
Look at trading Mayes when he reaches his ceiling in the next 2 weeks or if Voss drops him.

Thanks Ringo - effectively the Stevie J thing isn't about SJ himself as he will play no ateer where on the field, the question becomes whether is is Staker or Mitchell on field for the next couple of weeks. My gut says Mitchell...

Mayes has been frustratingly in and out (freakin Voss!) - started with a bang then last 4 weeks has been crazy - 104 vs freo in roung 12, then copped the vest vs Geelong so only got 15 there, then was dropped, as soon as he gets a full game again gets 103... Give the man a run Vossy! If he can get a steady run then he'll make me a bit of cash, get that 15 out of the average and he'll be set, but it all relies on him getting game time.

Mr. Muffins nope I definitely don't wan't to be relying on rookies but the more people I have on my bench who are actually playing, the more options I have... Before Vlastuin, Duffiled, Birchall, Watson (and much earlier Tex) went down in flames I could have had a final team with Goodes, Mitchell, Nicholls and JJK as bench cover for each line - would not have had any problem putting them on! Alas, SC is a cruel mistress...

Thanks but it's much the same, basically the choice is between Staker or Nicholls to cover both benches. Money wise they're practically the same price so there's not a lot of difference either way...
