Hey guys,

Current Team - 4 Trades/ $63k Bank

B Goddard, Hibberd, Hanley, Gibbs, Goodes, Staker - Birchall, Clisby
M Ablett, Pendle, Swan, JPK, Lids, Swallow, Mitchell, Crouch - Watson, Martin
R Minson, Nicholls - Maric, Currie
F Cox, Bartel, Walker, Roughead, JJK, Buddy - McBean, Oxley

1. I was going to Hold Birchall, and loophole Staker/Clisby for a few weeks... until Birchall is back
2. Watson out, i was thinking about SJ or Jack(3 Syd Mids??)
3. With Nicholls going so well is it worth trading out Maric $460k...?
4. Buddy -> Rockliff & $50k worth it...!??!?

Thoughts would be nice... Cheers

If I were in your position with just the 4 trades I would only look to trade out Watson as it is unlikely that he'll be back for the home and away season.

I think the best option with the amount of cash you have is Kieren Jack. I wouldn't worry about having the 3 mids from the Swans, doesn't mean a great deal really.

Hold on to those other 3 trades for any further LTI's and restings during SC finals.

Keeper27

birchall/Watson > KJack/Hartlett.

leaves you with 2 trades & $27K, for LTI's or upgrading fallen premo's

tor01doc

Birchall is not worth trading out at this stage as his replacement won't be that consistent anyway.

Watson goes. Get Griffen.

Buddy OK to keep since a lot have him anyway so you don't lose much by keeping him. Get rid of him for an equivalent priced guy and you leave yourself at risk.

Can't afford Griffen - Watson dropped to 528k so he can afford anyone 591k or less. I reckon Jack is the best option :)

_wato

He doesn't have the cash for that tor01doc.

Kieran Jack would be the best replacement for Watson. Super consistent, pumping out great scores.
Would also strongly consider Michael Barlow if you can hold a week or two as he has a great finals run and has had a week off, so unlikely to be rested again as they finalise their team, but unfortunately I think you're $10k off. Hold solid with the rest of your team, Birch will become a POD come finals time, and there's no good replacement for him. Maric will come good, as will Buddy. You're in a good position mate, so just hold for as long as you can.
Good luck mate!

Watson > Prem
Birch > Prem

Hold other 2 trades for dear life

I would keep birchall, buddy and Maric with just 4 trades.

Maybe trade Watson for jelwood or kjack.

I'm happy to hold Birchall & Maric,  as i've got backups for both...
Buddy never really seem to take off... Rockliff, seems v.cheap for his price...

Watson -> SJ over Jack for me... esp for DPP and i already have 2 Syd mids in my midfield...

i wouldn't mind Barlow, just unsure if he will fall enough for me to grab..!!
i don't like Selwoods scoring potential, since SJ will be back in the side

Thanks for the idea's though

Have been thinking about my last 4 trades...!!

Watson -> SJ this week...

my final 3 trades would be as follows....

Buddy, Nicholls/Maric, Crouch - OUT
McBean to Ruck, SJ to Fwd
Griffen/Danger/Barlow (2 of them) + Fwd Rookie - IN
Birchall, holding, due back around finals or just before...!!

Final Team should look like this...!!

B Goddard, Hibberd, Hanley, Gibbs, Birchall, Goodes - Staker, Clisby
M Ablett, Pendle, Swan, JPK, Lids, Swallow, Danger, Griffen - Mitchell, Martin
R Minson, Nicholls/Maric - McBean, Currie
F Cox, Bartel, Walker, Roughead, JJK, SJ - Rookie, Oxley

Just need Crouch & Nicholls to fatten up about $100k more to get both Griffen & Danger

it'll definitely finish your midfield but its risky as sh!t.
you are depending way too much on Birchall (hopefully) coming back by finals.
and what if he doesnt?? You're left with a $420K water boy sitting on the pine.
and what if you need a fwd bench cover??
Oxley might not get anymore games, and who's to say the rookie you bring in (whoever he is) will get games either??
If the rookie you bring in has F/D DPP then maybe it could work as cover, staker moves back fwd and clisby can be your D6 cover.

worst case scenario, imagine Clisby as a D6 (IF Birchall doesnt come back) and a FWD premo gets suspended or injured and staker has to go and be F6.

how about this if you are set on using up your trades.

This week - Maric > Daniher (McBean goes Ruck, Nicholls as R2, not ideal but decent)
Next Week - Birchall + Watson + $350K > any premiums you want under $550K (Shaw/KJack)
week after - Crouch (by then he'll be $340K) + $210K > Premium under $550K

and if you go cheaper than Shaw like Thompson/Ibbo/Malceksi/Enright you can spend even more on mid premo's.

You still get your finished midfield, and i think that looks a lot more balanced and safer than hoping Birchall coming back.

Indeed going down my line of thinking requires Birchall to return... if not Staker/Clisby are backups as such....

Yet if birchall does come back in, i can switch Staker Fwd or Def, as well as Clisby as a backup...!!

At the end of the day, i'd be comparing my final team vs your final team....

Danger(ave 117), Girffen(ave 124), SJ(ave 116) vs Shaw(ave 104), K.Jack(ave 112), Jelwood(ave 108)

On average i'd expect about 30-35 points per game...  and without the possible inconsistency of Shaw/Jelwood this season...!!

fair enough, that's your choice.
those 30-35 points isnt going to mean sh!t if Birchall doesnt come back in time for finals.

and its a tad bit unfair to say Joelwood is inconsistent.
8 X 100+, 6 X 120+ in 14 games.

and Shaw inconsistent?? 2nd hight avg in DEF.
90+ is acceptable for a DEF, he's gone  8 X 90+ in 11 games.
