Time to say goodbye Blicavs?

Before Blicavs was out and Daw came in, I was pretty set on trading Daw for Nicholls.

Now I'm rethinking it. There's no guarantee Blicavs holds his spot. With the immense amount of talls coming back plus other rucks vying for a spot he's up against Vardy, H-Mac, Pods and West. Maybe he's back after his bye, maybe not. Maybe he doesn't hold his spot much longer after that.

Basically, it might be time to cash out. He's made more money than Daw, and by bringing in Nicholls I'll have a perfectly fine bench ruck. (plus Daw). So why hold him?

What do people think of Daw and Nicholl's JS vs Blicavs though? Are most people planning to keep him for a while/the season or cash out soon?

You should trade blicavs out. He is not playing for two weeks and then u hope he returns after the bye

I am thinking of possibly trading him out soon, for those exact reasons you have stated. Also with the inclusion of Daw I have traded him out to avoid the cash leak. Most likely will be upgrading the Blitz to someone like Minson maybe.

Alka

If I kept Daw I'd be keeping him as a R3 or 4 for the season. Otherwise yeah, this week he must go.
Do you think he will continue to get games?

I would need him to play Round 13.

Hmmm, similar situation. I've got Blitz, Daw & Berger.

I'd still trade out Daw, he will leak cash & could score a sub 10 again. Meaning your probably better off keeping Blitz & trading Daw out...

Not sure that'll happen this week. He's been brought in as one of the few talls vs GCS young defense. Might not go bang but could be good for a 40-50. This Nic Nat being out rumour is swaying me a bit. Daw would only be my emergency, so better than a zero.

Then again, Round 13 is what I'm worried about most. Tarrant will be back, another tall, which would lower his JS.

I too have Cox, Berger, Daw and The Blitz.

Daw has a 113 BE. He's set to lose anywhere between $20-30k. Daw is gone this week for Nicholls, Berger-->Minson next week. Blicavs has more chance of returning before Berger, and has a -3 BE, meaning if he only plays one more game for the season (doesn't matter when it'll be because he'll be sitting on the bench, not on the field) he'll jump up about $20k, then offload him.

I don't know if Vardy will be able to hold his spot. He had some good and some shower games in the reserves. It may only take one quiet game from him and Blics gets another look. He's also a much more versatile player than most big men, can be used on the wings or in the backline.

I think you're over reacting by trading him out now. He's listed as "Managed" meaning he's just being given an extra week as well as the byes. Makes sense: it's his first year and he's not from a footy background. He's shown improvement every game and I reckon Chris Scott is pretty happy blooding youngins as he's shown this season. Blics will get another run.

I was referring to the scoring sub 10.

The thing is, I doubt I'll downgrade my rucks more than once. I can finish off my team faster downgrading more profitable mids/defs/macaffer. I'd much rather have a seasons worth of cover in rucks. So I am thus not so worried about BEs, but rather their current price point. My dilemma is mostly Daw's JS v Blicavs JS, plus their scoring ability as I'll be playing one of them in round 13.

Sorry, misunderstood. Thought you meant the "leaking cash" part.

Hmm, it's a tricky one. You wonder how much longer North will persist with Daw if he keeps running around like a kitten not knowing what to do and eventually having to be subbed. I really rate the guy as an athlete, but it's pretty obvious he doesn't have the footy instinct yet. You also have Tarrant to come back into the side, and with Black performing well, I could see Daw getting sent back to the reserves.

By the same token, Blics faces similar challengers for his spot at Geelong with H. Mac still to return. I just think Blics looks like more of a natural footballer. Both Blics and Daw could be frighteningly good as they both have that mix of speed and height, just reckon Blics is a bit further on in his development.

Alka

Yeah, I think you've convinced me. Blicavs has a few more dimensions to his game, Daw isn't quite there yet. The Tarrant thing scares me, and Daw has fairly JS as a result. Hopefully Cavs is back in round 13 and pumps out a big score so I don't regret it!

I also like how Geelong have just come out and said that he's being "managed". Gives you much more hope for a return than if they'd said "omitted".

If you can Hold Blicavs and not get a zero I say go for it. He's on the rise, looking more accustomed to the game each week.

+1 but it all depends on what effect his omission has on your team.
