Trade advice please!

Here is my current team before any trades this round, 17 trades and $93k in the kitty.
Current bye breakdown is 9/10/11 though as you can see I'm going to be missing a lot of scorers in my mids come round 13.

I was thinking about this week going Viney to Mitchell, Gawn to Nicholls and Mayes to Bartel. But I've had a look at my opponents teams, my office league before trading my opponent only has 12 people playing so at worst I'm fielding 18 vs 15. Shouldn't be an issue. FF league I think will be close but I'm probably going to lose.

If I make those planned trades it leaves me at 8/10/12, with next to no cash, but I could put Bartel on the field which may help my weak forward pack. But I'm thinking maybe I should just make the first 2 trades as a cash grab and leave Bartel for now... No guarantees Mayes will get a game next week though...

Following week I was thinking O'Meara to Hrovat and Terlich to one of Hanley, Hartlett or Duffield. I eventually want Cotchin in but he's going to drop in price and I'm content to wait for that, not going for overall...

So, advice please. Pick up Bartel now? Playing GWS with a BE of 93, price likely to go up... or just cash grab for future?

you have 18 players playing, why trade anything? there is no one out there that is a good downgrade this week, and any other trade means they miss a week in the next 2 weeks.

why waste trades?!

Trading trough the byes should be to enable you to have your team set up after the byes. That is what most of the top coaches will be aiming for to have a virtually completed team Round 14 or 15. So if the trades you are proposing will assist in that regard then do. If Bartel is to be in your final team then why not get him now as well.

I personally think that if you have more tan 18 players available on the field it will help as you can cope with a low score.

main thing though is go with your gut on your team.

Do you think? I really don't see this week as more than a saving trades. In the next few weeks we have some potentially great downgrades - i wasn't expecting to have a complete team til at least 16 - then again my rank is 7000, so i'm not exactly a top coach :)

No worries dick everyone has opinions and that is the advantage of this site, you can get all opinions and digest and decide what is best for you. Do not put yourself down because I do not even consider myself a top coach as we are all just FF players, No hard set and fast rules for team completion but previous winners have had teams set at that time.

Thanks guys. Yeah Ringo I aim to have my team close to complete by the end of the byes, the only players I am not sure on are Cotchin (will wait for his price to bottom out, may take til round 14) and my final defenders (No reason to replace Vlastuin and Goodes yet but I don't think they will be my final backs).

Bartel is the guy I can't decide on. My final forwards I think will be Buddy, Cox, Rockliff, Stevie J, NicNat (will get another ruck in) and I don't know who F6 will be. Boomer or Bartel looking like likely candidates, and Bartel probably slightly ahead for me at this point. Not quite enough cash to get Stevie J in this week. Bartel's price will likely go up which is why I'm thinking of making a decision now. Perhaps that's just hasty and unwise?

Dickitch I see your point but yeah in line with what Ringo said, the trades I am thinking of doing are not about fielding players really, more about setting myself up to complete my team ASAP... Plus I have exactly 18 in, at this stage with Webster and Thurlow. Won't be surprised if one/both of them gets vested. So given that it's top 18 players, if I have Bartel in then that at least provides me with a slightly more bankable score.

I have been off here for quite awhile now as i forgot my password as was not receiving any emails to reset my password so i was sticking to Supercoachcoach.com.au. Thats why my team has suffered over the weeks because i have not been able to post my team for advise.
As for your team this week i would not use all three trades this week. I would get rid of O'meara in the next 2 weeks if not this week as his B/E IS 111 don't trade in a round 13 bye player so look to someone who has had there bye this week or round 12. Iget Tom Mitchell or Kyle Martin in next week for Viney.
If your going to make any trades this week trade out a forward as you have 3 that are out Travis Cloke may be a good Pick as Frawley isn't playing this week.Obviously Monfries would be the one to go.

Thanks Johnny - that's actually I think my best plan. at this stage though anyone coming in has to be either a keeper or a playing rookie for a cash grab. I think I will go Gawn to Nicholls and Monfries to Bartel, eats about $50k but I think Bartel will be a keeper and evens out my forward line for this week... I don't back Cloke to be a top forward, even though I have barely any round 13 bye forwards - it's because they're all useless!
