Who is going to be the big winner from the spate of injuries down a Glenrrie (apart from opposition forwards)?

Will Guerra tear it up with Birchall a little underdone or will he be given more responsibility and a stopping role??

I would pick Birchall because of his durability. He hasn't missed a game in the past 2 seasons.

would much rather ellis and birchall over guerra

Ellis had a great finish to 2008, think he averaged ~91-92 over the last 5 rounds (excluding finals) - has he done enough to get himself a permanent gig though? Haven't seen him in the pre-season so far (unless he played on the weekend) - does anyone know if he's injured? If he played all year (starting, not just off the bench) i reckon he'd be worth a punt...

Shouldve done a bit more research before asking that question... From the Hawks website, article 9th Feb, Ellis is on track for Round 1 after successful hip surgery in the off season.. "I'm back running and kicking and all that sort of stuff, so hopefully it's all smooth sailing from here to round one."

So sounds like he'll be ready or thereabouts by season kick-off. Will he get a permanent guernsey though? With Croad, Gilham and Brown all injured i imagine he'll play but will he retain his spot when they come back into the side???

Wouldn't be so sure about Ellis for R1. More like R4, has missed a lot of preseason and will need the extra few weeks to get the kms in his legs.
He would be an absolute lock in most side if fit for R1.
Guerra and Birchall are consistent types but Birchall isn't 100% either so Guerra is in front atm.
