There is a report that an AFL player has been stabbed overnight and is in hospital.

Triple M's Hot Breakfast believes that the report is true.

Victoria Police tells us a 30-year-old man has been stabbed in Reservoir but did not name the man.

Channel 7 Reporter Brendan Roberts says the player is Nathan Lovett-Murray.

ESSENDON midfielder Nathan Lovett-Murray has been stabbed in a domestic dispute in Melbourne.

Lovett-Murray, 30, is being treated in Royal Melbourne Hospital for a stab wound to the arm.

It is understood the injury is not life-threatening.

A 22-year-old man and 17-year-old boy have been arrested and are being interviewed by police.

The incident happened at a house in suburban Reservoir just after 10pm (AEST) on Tuesday.

The midfielder has played 143 games for the Bombers since making his senior debut in 2004.

Essendon chief executive Ian Robson will speak about the incident at a media conference at 0945 AEST at the club's Windy Hill headquarters.
