QuoteJarrad Waite should be reinvented as a wingman to enable the Blues to develop a long-term forward line, says club great Mark Maclure.

Waite is expected to play his first AFL game of the season after being named in a forward pocket in Carlton's 25-man squad to play Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday.

Maclure believes the 30-year-old is too injury-prone to command a permanent forward role, suggesting his occasional presence in attack could hinder the progress of key targets like Sam Rowe, Shaun Hampson and Levi Casboult.

Could he become fantasy relevant?

I reckon that's a pretty stupid assertion by malthouse. His occasional presence will be significantly more valuable than any two of rowe, hapson and casboult on pretty much any day.

Malthouse didn't say anything zip, Mark Maclure did...

whoooops, my bad, I just woke up (pulled an all nighter for uni assignments on thursday night), I read the ma and thought it said malthouse.

Makes far more sense now, malthouse wouldnt say anything so stupid :P

It would be pretty much what Richmond did with Richo to develop JRoo. They recruited Waite as a wingman but the team needs him as a key forward
