QuoteFremantle midfielder Jayden Pitt's career could be over at the age of 20 after just 10 AFL games, with further medical tests confirming a heart irregularity that would represent a significant and potentially life-threatening risk if he tried to continue playing.

Is this of any similarity to Lenny Hayes?

I have known for a couple of weeks and have it on pretty good authority that the condition will force him to retire. Did not really want to say anything out of respect for the family. Sad story for the kid but at least they picked it up early and he can live a relatively normal life.

We can only wish the kid the best, and I don't mean football wise.Football fades into insignificance when some thing like this happens.
Hopefully, after the operation I assume he will have,he can make a full recovery and lead a normal life.
I would also like to see the club give him a lap of honour when he is over this problem.
Get well,and quickly, young fella.

This sounds similar to the Josh Toy Heart irregularity issue with the suns resulting him being de-listed and despite some interest not picked up.

When heart issues are involved clubs do not seem to want to take the risk unfortunately for the players.

From what I know it is not like either Toy or Hayes. Toys effects his endurance while Hayes had a leaky valve which can be fixed via surgery. I still don't really want to disclose to many details until the club or his family comes out with it, but I will say if the club had not picked it up, it was life threatening and his heart might not have been able to take the intensity from training another week.

A quote from the article

QuoteThewest.com.au understands that a second specialist's opinion has delivered bad news for Pitt, advising him to avoid the extreme physical stresses of AFL football.

Pretty much this

Thanks Matt sorry for making wrong comparisons.

Feel sorry for the kid as well having a career cut short,

Don't appologise, nothing has really been released yet to the public so those are sort of the only two comparisons that could be made. I don't really want to disclose anything publicly as he and his family have enough going on as is right now, including the media hounding them to find out what is wrong. It sucks for Jayden but when they are ready to make the announcement they will. With the condition he has he can live a normal life but footy seems out of the question.

And this

Pretty much what I said earlier in the thread. The specialist in Melbourne advised him a couple of weeks ago that he would be unable to play again as the stress of football would be to much for his heart to handle. As the irregularity has still not been released I will refrain from saying what it is.
