I see Ablett as the 712K bargain!!!!!!!!!!!!

He will tear sides apart like he always does and is an absolute lock in captain each and every week. It's a massive risk waiting for his price to drop.

Pink Pythons

Ablett is for suckerrs.

If 1 thing goes wrong and he drops 50k at a time - it could be bad weather for chris' sakes.

Wait - grab him at $587,200

You need to have a look at Geelongs forst 6 rounds mate.

1. Hawthorn
2. Richmond
3. Collingwood
4. Adelaide
5. Brisbane
6. Melbourne

You name me which team he is likely to score less then 130 against?

He will destroy Richmond, Adelaide, Brisbane and especially Melbourne.

You might be waiting for a while for his price to drop.

Thats just nt true. Players Prices change every 3 weeks so if one thing goes wrong he can destroy some other team and maintain his average

I really want to try and explain how the rolling average works to you guys, but I can't put it into words. Anyways the way I see ATM I'm not going to go with Ablett, primarily because I want to use the money to elsewhere.

I intend to rotate my captaincy on week-to-week basis, as this allows me to factor in match condition such as: historical figures, weather, time of day, taggers/enforcers and niggling injuries. If I had Ablett I would definitely want to use every 712K of his price-tag and lock him in as captaincy each week, I don't prefer doing this as I like to back my gut and pick who will score well.

Although G.Ablett is very durable, if he gets injured it would put a massive hole in the team, as you don't want to trade him out because your definitely going to want him in your team, but then that 712K is going to put a dint into your weekly scores for the duration of the injury. For example the difference between a 400K player getting injured and Ablett is huge. (Subtract Ablett's score from estimated bench rookie's score, subtract 400K from bench rookie's score).

Mind you, there's no right or wrong answer to getting him initially or not, as it primarily depends on your squad's structure, other players and were you see value. But based on the players in my team and structure I'm going with I reckon Abletts a better upgrade target for me.

After reading on various threads, ive been convinced Ablett is a lock from rd 1

Ive managed to fit Ablett, Bartel and Judd all in my midfield.

I just cant see him playing a bad game in the first 5-6 rounds.

He scored 141 in a losing GF side last year against the 2nd best team..

Just something to think about

Richo_Richo_Man

I had him for 2005-7, but in 08 I was hoping his $ would drop...missed the boat didn't I. Was my 1st pick in 09.

Even if his avg drops to 115 and his price by 100k...you'd take that and one of ur cash cows will make up the lost $.

i agree with Alex7089!!
i was thinking of getting gazza in last year at some point and it didn't happen - it puts u directly behing the 8 ball with no chance to kick ass.  who cares wat he is at the start - i pick the prems that i want no matter what thier price is - u work around it.  wat happens in rd 7 onwards when u potentailly get a few injuries or suspensions in ur side (its most likely gonna happen) do u still concentrate on getting in gazza when he is going to be very difficult to get in without some sort of sacrifice?? no u fix the current prob..

im not making the mistake of not having gazza from rd 1   Alex7089 is spot on - he has a below his average score one week then he scores massive the next - some ppl should of listened in math more lol!!  he scored over 100 SC points in one quarter against the crows!! get around him..

Queenslander

the way i see it is that every premium drops ~100k sometime in the season. do you want ablett in rd 1 or rd 10?

his only con is that he get little injuries, and he sooks a bit

Bmo23

after watchin gazza score 181sc points in 2 and abit quarters against adelaide, you'd be silly not to get him. no team can stop him. capt every week for me.....and wouldnt hold my breath waitin for price to dip.

Heater

Gazza ia a lock in my side no matter his price.  The guy is an SC gun; simple as that!!!!!  You wait and see how many have him from Rd1 and as skipper....

The way the scoring works is that its the average of the past 3 weeks + the 3 weeks before that

So for Ablett, he has to get 396 points (3 x his average last year of 132) in those 3 weeks.

So lets say in that time he has
1 gun week = 150 points
1 ok week = 100 points
and 1 hopeless week = 30 points

So for the 3 weeks he scored 280 points = 93.33 per week

His average before that was 132.28

So his new average is (132 + 93) divided by 2 = 112.5

Therefore his average would go down to about 605,000

So you can see how if he has just one bad week, his price will go down a lot

I highlty dought that ablett will score 30 in a match unless he goes off injured at quarter time...
For ablett a gun week is higher than 150..
its about 160-200
ablett missed like 3 weeks last year, still averaged 132 and is priced 712k.
If he does not get injured i cannot see why he wouldn't be able to average 132 +
Do you really want to miss out on massive scores he may get, while you wait for him to drop.
If you don't get him and he gets 200+ in any of the rounds before he 'crashes' you will be sorry, especially if your opponent has him as capt.
